Senior Manager for CB Oversight and High Risk Sectors

Role purpose 

Provide specialist risk oversight for designated High-Risk Sectors (HRS) within CIB (including Affiliates, Correspondent Banks, Money Service Businesses (MSBs), Third-Party Payment Processors (TPPPs), and Digital Assets and Currencies (DACs)), ensuring consistent application of sector standards, enhanced due diligence (EDD), and risk appetite controls across the client/relationship lifecycle. The role delivers independent review and credible challenge on onboarding and material changes, governs exceptions and escalations, monitors portfolio risk and emerging trends, and partners with FC, sanctions, credit risk, operations, and the business to support joined-up decisions and robust controls.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the HRS risk oversight approach, including the methodology, minimum control expectations, and review frequency across the HRS lifecycle ensuring the HRS framework remains aligned to the bank’s risk appetite, Financial Crime (FC) standards, and CIB governance requirements.
  • Maintain sector-specific risk guidance for HRS (risk factors, red flags, minimum EDD, prohibited/restricted activities).
  • Improves decision quality and consistency across HRS/CB, reducing the likelihood of onboarding or changes outside risk appetite.

Portfolio monitoring, thematic reviews & assurance

  • Monitor sector portfolio trends and emerging risks
  • Run thematic deep-dives
  • Drive remediation of any sector-related issues or audit findings

Knowledge & experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a relevant risk, compliance, financial crime, or banking role, with exposure to High Risk Sectors, including Correspondent Banking (CB) and/or MSBs, TPPPs, DACs, Affiliates (or similar high-risk client segments).
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, able to assess complex ownership structures, business models, and risk drivers.
  • Experience applying risk appetite and sector standards to real client decisions (onboarding, material changes, exceptions).
  • Working knowledge of Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) expectations and sector risk indicators (risk factors, red flags, prohibited/restricted activities).
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly with global and local stakeholders and to provide effective credible challenge.
  • Advanced English (written and spoken).
