Role purpose

Lead the tax function for HSBC Seguros in Mexico by providing strategic tax advisory to the business and Technology to define and ensure the correct tax treatment and calculation for products and transactions; ensuring timely and accurate compliance with all tax obligations

 

Main Responsibilities

 

  • Provide tax advisory to the business, including, defining the tax treatment for new products, perform reviews to assure the correct performance of the tax definitions on the current products, and provide tax specifications and clarifications to the technology area for tax calculations related to products.
  • Provide an overview to the CFO regarding the Effective Tax Rate, Current and Deferred Taxes and rationales.  
  • Carry out the compliance activities for assuring the accuracy and due dates on tax obligations (Income Tax, VAT, SIPRED, Informative returns), IFRS Tax Reporting, Forecasting the current & deferred taxes and profit sharing, Reconciliation, and substantiation of tax accounts. Coordinate the Transfer Pricing Study with the external advisor and gather/provide the information needed. Define the tax treatment for payments to foreign suppliers.
  • Provide the tax information for the performance of the external audit, including the tax calculations and the financial notes related to taxes.
  • Addressing requirements from Local and Federal Tax Authorities.
  • Controversy matters related to tax audits including administrative appeals and conclusive agreements.
  • Perform the Optimization of tax compliance processes through the implementation of technology and partnerships with external vendors.
  • Tax risk management.
  • Identify any new tax regulation impacting the Insurance company, inform to the business and raise the tax request for their adoption/implementation.

 

Requirements 

 

  • 6+ years of experience in Tax Insurance matters and companies, including advisory, compliance and audits. (MUST requirement).
  • Bachelor degree in Finance, Business Administration or Economic Areas.
  • Desirable experience in a Big4 firm.
  • Leadership, Communication, Team work, Goal oriented, Proactive, Strong organizational, Analytical skills and Attention to details, Decision-making abilities to propose solutions to the CFO and the Head of Tax.
  • English skills - written and oral. Intermediate, fluent.
