The Business Credit Office (BCO) team is part of COO at HSBC Mexico. The primary focus of a BCO Analyst is owning the E2E (End to End) process of credit for  Wholesale Banking customers in order to support Relationship Managers  to structure credit solutions according to financial needs of Corporate, Commercial Real Estate, Financial Institutions and Multinational customers that would increase lending portfolio in HSBC and ultimately would be translated in reaching economic objectives of the bank. 

Throughout the tenure of this role, the BCO Analyst teammate will gain exposure with Sr. Managers of Wholesale Banking, Wholesale Credit Risk, Syndications teams and Credit Services (back office) while developing the following skills: financial / business acumen, attention to detail, analytic and strategic thinking,  planning and relationship management.  The analyst will also be involved in transactions for customers operating in industries such as: Media, Services, Manufacturers,  Autoparts, Project Finance,  Hospitality, Pharma, Retail, O&G, Agroindustries, Food and Beverage, NBFIs,  Real Estate, Transportation, among others
 

Specific responsibilties of a BCO analyst include: 
Increasing lending portfolio: (i) Contribute with RMs to structure credit short-termed or long-termed financial solutions for corporate customers; (ii) Identify and assess risks of these financings in order to ensure that credit risk is properly mitigated and the deal complies with Mexican banking regulation and internal policies of HSBC; (iii) prepare Credit applications 100% written in English where the analyst is expected to undertake an exhaustive assessment of  the customer that includes: analysis of financial statements, industry analysis,  annual projections of customers to predict repayment capacity 

Portfolio monitoring: (i) work closely with Relationship Managers and clients to monitor compliance of financial and non-financial terms of the lending portfolio in order to detect a negative trend of the customer or industry that would ultimately have effects on our customers ; (ii) ensure completeness of the credit file in order to facilitate operations of credits (payments and disbursements).

Customer facing: (i) be in contact with customers in order to follow up documentation to facilitate the portfolio management assigned to the analyst; (ii) be in contact with the customer to obtain firsthand,  valuable information from the customer in order to undertake thorough analysis of the Borrowers for monitoring purposes or increasing the lending portfolio.

Communication with back office: construct efficient communication bridges with supporting teams within HSBC (from the spreading team,  file monitoring, operations, legal) in order to properly manage the customers assigned to the analyst. 

Skills & Capailities 

Strong analysis skills
2 years of credit analysis experience
Ability to understand business and industry drivers.
Proactive communication / partnership with Relationship Managers and supporting groups.
Strong organization skills and ability to manage / sequence multiple deliverables.
Strong written and oral communication skills
BS/ BA in Economy, Actuarial Science, Financial Management, Public Accounting, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering.
Proficient in English
Financial Statement Analysis
Basic knowledge of derivatives
