Role purpose:

Traded Risk function monitors, evaluates and manages market and counterparty risks impacting across the HSBC Group. It is responsible for establishing the global risk management framework for Traded Risk, and plays a key role in ensuring that the Bank is compliant with current and future regulatory requirements relating to Traded Risks and their capitalization.

This role is responsible for supporting the generation of the different risk reports, as well as controlling and monitoring the market and counterparty risks incurred by HSBC Mexico, through the measurement of the risk exposures reflected in the different indicators that are compared against the limits established by the administration, with the purpose of reporting in a timely manner the aforementioned exposures, complying with the Internal Normativity and the current local regulation

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Verify daily the observance of the specific limits for traded risk per business unit, risk factor and other established criteria, to generate information that allows the design of modification proposals for current limits or reduction of exposure levels.
  • Support daily and monthly reports (consolidated and broken down by business unit and risk factor) of exposure to Market Risk, through the exposure measurement of each market risk factor against the limits established to achieve a reliable report. (Different reports are generated according to the end users: involved areas, risks and regulatory committee of the CNBV)
  • Verifying on a daily basis that all the inputs for the completion of the Traded Risk Report are ready in a timely manner
  • Improve the control measures to identify important movements of the portfolios in less time, in order to optimize and improve the analysis quality and the reports’ information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance, economics, engineering or similar discipline.
  • Good understanding of vanilla and structured products traded within capital markets.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain topics clearly and intuitively.
  • Good understanding of capital markets and the key market risk measures and methodologies used to assess risk.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to apply quantitative techniques to perform trend analysis, identify risk anomalies, and solve practical problems.
  • Team-oriented, while pro-active and self-motivated with ability to complete tasks with limited supervision.
  • Good at handling a diverse workload of longer-term projects and short-terms asks.
  • Comfortable with understanding and learning to leverage multiple risk systems.
  • Strong technical skills (VBA, SQL, Python etc)
