US CIB COO Business Manager
Role Purpose
US CIB COO Business Manager will participate in business activities, supporting Senior Managers with BAU and non-BAU activities, cyclical work pieces such as Annual Reporting and short-term initiatives. The role sits within BAU teams, reports to a Senior Manager, and may have direct reports.
This role is not client-facing and does not hold any portfolios. Employees in a Business Management role are expected to have working knowledge of financial budgeting, strategic planning, communication, and people management processes relevant to their business area. They are not expected to have specific product knowledge
The role holder will:
- Support the execution of business initiatives and activities aligned to the business area’s objectives (excluding change implementation projects).
- Participate in business planning activities, which may include financial, technology, and resource planning.
- Contribute to senior management decision-making by providing management information, performance insights, analytics, input from forums, and stakeholder feedback.
- Support relevant forums and committees, representing the business area’s perspective.
- Support the development, operation, and monitoring of internal governance activities.
- Identify and investigate discrete issues impacting business unit performance and help drive appropriate remediation.
- Evaluate and analyze management information relating to external service providers, monitor their performance, and ensure adherence to service level agreements.
- The role will primarily support the US CIB COO team.
The Business Manager role within the CIB COO GSC Mexico structure supports a range of needs across the organization. The role commonly acts as the focal point for one or more core topics managed by the area and serves as a key partner to other Support teams, Business Services, Global Functions, Lines of Business, and DBS functions at local, regional, and global levels. The role holder is characterized by diligent management and close follow-up of multiple workstreams, operating with integrity and transparency and maintaining a strong customer and stakeholder service mindset. The result of the work performed by the Business Manager will be visible in the driving of strategy, the achievement of the operating model target, the constant transformation of our ways of operating and ambitious continue improvement aspiration. This includes (but is not limited to) providing dedicated business management support across the following areas:
- Finance and billing: Cost management, Forecasting, Recharges and Billing management, Invoicing, FRP
- Business Performance and Risk trends: Data and MI management, QlikSense analysis, Reporting, Scorecard following, Risk and control management.
- HR, Framework, Governance and Documentation management
Principal Accountabilities:
- Act as the relationship manager and focal point to Support areas, Business Services, Global Functions, Lines of Business and DBS functions at Local, Regional and Global level.
- Drive Business Service Strategic initiatives including innovation and strategy.
- Provide specific expertise to follow, oversight, explain, present, mobilize and other support activities to Operations Delivery and Strategy areas such as Finance, Billing, Business Performance MI and metrics, Risk, HR, Framework, Governance, Documentation, Communication, as well as support the Head of the region with specific ad-hoc requirements.
- Ensure Business Service Governance is supported and executed properly
Knowledge
- Excellent understanding of the project lifecycle
- Networking developer: Excellent relationship management and influencing skills based on leadership at different levels of Seniority within our organization.
- Strong financial, accounting, and administration experience supported by management capabilities to planning, organizing and distribute complex information. Skilled to challenge and explain results.
- Communication – the ability to communicate complex issues concisely in English.
- Able to produce, interpret and challenge performance reporting
- Willing and able to analyze complex issues and identify / assess the long-term, strategic implications for the Bank and its customers.
- Knowledge of English, ability to communicate in a written and spoken way.
Experience
- Use of English at business level - mandatory (at least 5 years)
- Financial, Planning and administrative background (at least 5 years)
- People manager and broad experience in managing teams of different work streams
- Examples of the delivery of on time and on budget projects that achieve business case stated outcomes – a driver with bias towards delivery at pace and controlling project outcomes
- In depth experience of working in a banking environment and changing projects
- Stakeholder management experience, especially impactful communication, influencing and running project governance implementation, change management and benefits realization
- Implementation, change management and benefits realization
- Working across cultures and in matrixed organizational structures
