Manager Financial Analyst – Strategic Cost Management

Description

The Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) Cost Manager in Mexico will work collectively as a team with their peers in Mexico and functional manager in the US to provide cost support to CIB & Markets Treasury (MKTY) key stakeholders across the Americas.  Full cost support includes all aspects of direct cost and indirect costs across coverage and product teams.

This individual will meet with and partner with key stakeholders across COO, Chief Commercial Office (CCO) and Product Business Manager on all cost analysis and inquiries.  This individual will also liaise with the Global Business Finance teams in London and serve as a conduit to the Mexico cost partner and US Business Finance team. 

This role provides cost management information (MI) actuals and analysis and forecasting/planning to all key stakeholders across products, segments, trading desks and legal entities across CIB & MKTY businesses.  The role holder will assume command over the consolidated cost base (Direct & Indirect) of CIB & MKTY. This includes detailed understanding of monthly financials specific to cost to ensure adherence to budget limits, proficient financial forecasting and correct prioritization of investment decisions. Investment (CTB) spend should be understood and managed in relation to the significant ‘Change’ programs being undertaken within CIB requires close collaboration with the business line’s Project Execution and CTB Investments teams.  As a key senior manager on the SCM team, this individual will be responsible for effective business stakeholder engagement which will be key to the success of this position and in line with this, all business performance processes should work in close collaboration with the broader CIB Business Finance.

Main activities

  • Primary face off to business line COOs and CCOs in CIB & MKTY Business, providing analysis of: actuals, cost run rates, drivers of variances to forecasts and plan, indirect cost, invoices and Fusion
  • Driving consistency and efficiency across tools, calculators, and processes for CIB including support of local and global Cost Dashboards in Qlik and Python forecasting tool
  • Responding to requests from senior leaders within Finance and CIB businesses and serves as a backup for Mexico based FTE
  • The successful candidate will work collaboratively vertically, horizontally and across multiple teams with an eye towards efficiency and streamlining all processes and deliverables.  Customers and stakeholders include: CIB COO, CCO, and Business Management teams; FP&A; SCM; CIB Business Finance teams; US Finance teams including GCIO and Functions Finance; Global CIB finance teams; GFC (India) teammates; Other Functions as needed including HR, Strategy, Risk and others

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, mathematics, statistics, business management, related field or equivalent experience (MBA preferred); Minimum of ten years proven financial and/or business analysis experience, or equivalent.
  • Financial modeling / analysis experience (managing large amounts of data to understand complex issues and effectively translate findings into clear and concise concepts for peers and management), project management capabilities demonstrating strong collaboration and relationship building, systems and reporting knowledge (familiarity with FTP, Clearview, TM1 global cubes, Qlik and Python preferred), strong interpersonal skills as well as presentation / communication skills.
  • Knowledge of CIB business and products preferred; Familiarity with US accounting rules, US regulations, IFRS, US GAAP, the US banking market, US economy and conditions.
