Today, the GAC team generates value across the group through a wide variety of data and analytic solutions and related business consulting. GAC has become a one-stop shop for the group’s analytic needs leading the integration of analytics and data-driven decisions not only in traditional areas such as Risk, Retail, Wholesale, Private & Commercial Banking but also in new domains such as Regulatory, Operations, Procurement, Human Resources, and Financial Crime Risk. It provides support to various business groups and the job involves data analysis, model and strategy development & implementation, Business Intelligence, reporting and data management.

There are primarily four job families in GAC: Information Management (Data Management), Decision Sciences, Business Intelligence and Analysis and Campaigns Operation.

The role of Analyst, Sr. Analyst or Expert  Data Science have a direct reporting line to the Leaders, Subject Mather Expert or Manager, Sr Manager Data Science (GCB5 and GCB4) will be accountable for structuring, conduct quality assurance and document the procedures to ingest the development and testing data to the analytical methodologies, execute the model monitor for the ongoing and planning analytical model/solutions. Participate in the design, test and execution of customer campaigns by providing model performance and model scores to campaign makers with the oversight of Her/His superior. This position also supports the performance test over the developed methodologies as well the documentation. Is not limited but could participate in Internal Model Reviews conducted by second line of defense by preparing and presenting evidence of alignment of global and local model governance policies and procedures.

Requires good communication skills in order to influence audiences in some organization layers. Provides business insights to stake holders that directly or indirectly affects IWPB financial results. Also requires a broad and comprehensive understanding of different systems and data structures and Cloud platforms. Data Science experience is desirable but could be extended to Portfolio and Business Analytics or Data Analytics experience or Business Intelligence experience.

Key activities :

  • Responsible for delivery of high-quality data preparation to ingest in the model development process, it includes but not limited to data quality, variable stability over periods of interest, variable distribution, data cleansing as main components. 
  • Accountable for prepare documentation that serve other stages of model development to understand in a clear and logical order of ideas the used data sources, data treatments, justification of selected periods of time, data quality cut off when applicable, and any other proposed metrics or measures used to propose changes to data ingested by models.  
  • Understand and envision how to link data preparation with model development and being capable to perform changes when needed in order to progress with model development and document changes as a result of such changes. 
  • Produce visual report or any other structured support to provide evidence that data preparation is sufficient and comply with global and local requirements. 
  • Produce model monitoring in accordance with global policies and procedures to ensure analytical solutions are performing as expected, derived for this activity is expected that jobholder could provide insights that help to take preventive actions of any kind of model performance deterioration or use those insights to expand the model use scope to make the business more rely on model decisions. To perform those actions jobholder need to be strictly sticked to the use of authorized software tools and avoid any wrong use of data used in the process.
  • In cases where jobholder possess an experience or previous experience of model development, the supervisor could decide to rely in more task related to model development under her/his supervision. All insights or results provided in this sense needs to be presented and validated by the correspondent GCB 4.
  • In cases where jobholder possess experience or technical knowledge, supervisor could rely her/him to supervise the development of models in her/him with the previous approval of GCB 4. In those cases jobholder needs to posses the skills to present the results from model development and model test translated in business language and jargon in order to stakeholders take decision or approval to use the analytical solution / model.
  • Assist or support in the execution of model scoring by running code in authorized tools following the superior instructions and document any change made in the process of scoring.
  • Assist or support model documentation with evidences required by the global policies or procedures to subscribe model to an Implementation Review, Model Assessment, or any other regulatory aspects of model governance.
  • Assist or support the development of analytical tools different from decision models that could help business to thrive under situations of uncertainty or gain a broader market share. In this sense, jobholder needs to document all the steps followed to accomplish the task in order to generate a bank of projects or knowledge that serve as a library for future exercises.
  • The role holder needs to manage multiple clients from different regions having different time zones, regulatory environment, and maturity of business, data and systems. Attend different forums where could express her/his opinion about modeling process or be part of any global task force that direct manager considers subscribing to.
  • Responsible for delivery of high quality Data Preparation datasets and documentation in order to progress with subsequent stages of model development.
  • Expected to own and deliver model monitoring in time according to model monitoring periodicity, it is not limited to; worksheet or dashboard comprising performance measures, population stability and bias test for protected classes.
  • Act as a liaison with other GAC or business to develop or reinforce the quality of data ingested to the analytical models.
  • Responsible to ensure the deployment of analytical models in time and ensure the model is well implemented, provide evidence and convince stakeholders the model has been implemented according to its design and meets business requirements.
  • Partner with business stakeholders in formulating key information management strategies and provide performance metrics on time or ad hoc analysis derived from business needs or provide more context to decision takers
  • Assist or support with proper response in time to information request made by second line of defence, support GCB5 or GCB4 by preparing supporting evidence of model performance when required.
  • Capable to explain trends, shifts in performance or any source of information that lead to understand any change in model performance.

Requirements:

  • Having Bachelor degree in one of these preferred disciplines: economics, statistics, computer science, data science, analytics, statistics, econometrics. Diploma or Master’s degree a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of the data management cycle within the banking industry in Mexico is desirable. 
  • 2 years experience in data preparation using SAS or Python software or any other data science software. Cloud data processing a plus.
  • 2 years Experience developing analytical models, predictive models, credit scoring solutions in bankin, insurance or telcos in the fields of CRM models, consultancy experience is welcome in the field of development of analytical methods
  • Demonstrate Basic to Intermediate SAS, Python, SQL programmatic languages in the fields of statistics, data manipulation, reporting and analysis.
  • Desirable but not limitative to have experience with documentation of large amount of process or analytical solutions, deployment and evangelization to business areas in the use of analytical models.
  • Exposure to building statistical and (or) Machine Learning models for solving diverse business challenges and creating significant business value.
  • Intermediate to expert use of excel a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to develop and effectively communicate complex concepts and ideas
  • Enthusiasm for proactively seeking, exploring and developing use cases for new data and/or tools/wider industry trends
  • Capable to maintain a strong stakeholder management skills and seamless delivery of analytics initiatives across markets
  • Ability to succeed in mathematical and programmatic fields by investigate methods or apply best practices to generate new ideas and innovation, open to share knowledge and savoir faire.
