Today, the GAC team generates value across the group through a wide variety of data and analytic solutions and related business consulting. GAC has become a one-stop shop for the group’s analytic needs leading the integration of analytics and data-driven decisions not only in traditional areas such as Risk, Retail, Wholesale, Private & Commercial Banking but also in new domains such as Regulatory, Operations, Procurement, Human Resources, and Financial Crime Risk. It provides support to various business groups and the job involves data analysis, model and strategy development & implementation, Business Intelligence, reporting and data management.

There are primarily four job families in GAC: Information Management (Data Management), Decision Sciences, Business Intelligence and Analysis and Campaigns Operation.

The role of Leader, Sr. Leader or Subject Mather Expert Data Science as a direct reporting line to the Manager or Sr Manager Data Managers (GCB4) will be accountable for validate the construction of data preparation ingested to analytical models, the development and innovation of analytical models, surveillance or monitor of the inventory of analytical models developed unde her/his jurisdiction, present evidences to IMR of commitment and alignment of global and local policies and procedures, documentation management of any analytical tool or model developed under her/his jurisdiction. This position also responsible to ensure adequate performance for analytical tools and models, test them and comply with the duties derived from Model Governance policies and procedures to ensure models are well documented under the internal Model Governance platforms. Is not limited to model governance compliment, and these positions are responsible for attend and provide evidence to Internal Model Review teams or any other second line of defense internal team in order to provide certainty that analytical models or tools are well constructed and comply with global and local policies and procedures.

Requires excellent communication skills in order to influence audiences in some organization layers. Provides business insights to stake holders that directly or indirectly affects IWPB financial results. Also requires a broad and comprehensive experience or knowledge of different systems and data structures and Cloud platforms. Data Science expertise in the previous development of analytical tools is desirable and could be extended to Portfolio and Business Analytics or Data Analytics expertise or Business Intelligence expertise.

Key activities :

  • Responsible for managing and ensure the delivery of high-quality data preparation to ingest in the model development process, it includes but not limited to data quality, variable stability over periods of interest, variable distribution, data cleansing as main components. Also ensure data preparation is in the same line with the requirement of business stakeholders.
  • Responsible for presentation of well prepared and sufficient detailed documentation that serve business stakeholders, internal review teams and any other third party or persons of interest to understand more about the analytical tool or model.  
  • Responsible for amalgamating data preparation and model development and test to produce analytical models and tool that commit with business requirements and provide substantial gain over actual models, business expert judgments.
  • Design all kind of visual structured and dynamic report that support the understanding of benefits of use analytical models or tools to stakeholders. Use such visual report to demonstrate model or tools are aligned with business needs.
  • Responsible to produce and maintain model monitoring in accordance with global policies and procedures to ensure analytical solutions are performing as expected, derived for this activity. Responsible to present periodical feedback over model performance to line managers and other businesspersons of interest to generate trust on analytical tools and models.
  • Responsible to present performance results to Sr. Manager, Director or Sr, Directors over model and tool on different forums with intention to demonstrate model is solving business problem and enhancing the portfolio performance and business growth.
  • Select the proper or adequate statistical, machine learning or artificial intelligence methodology applicable to the business problem aligned with the design of data preparation. Responsible to execute the modeling and test stages to arrive to conclusions that serve as evidence of potential use of final output.
  • Responsible to the selection of software capable to perform statistical, machine learning, artificial intelligence methodologies while she/her ensure the same conditions will exist during the deployment and ongoing executions.
  • Responsible to conduct Internal and any other second line of defense model review by providing proper and on time responses to reviewers. Provide structured evidences that show strong model or tool performance as well as demonstrate the analytical solutions are aligned with global and local policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for preparing, review and present to internal model review teams the evidence of implementation derived from recommendations in time, maintain the inventory of Model Review Indicators raised by internal reviewers and provide the proper documentation to close them.
  • Responsible for the execution of model scoring by ensuring the process runs in an end process well established, validated and documented. Attend in time with high priority any data or execution issue and act as consequence to ensure quality of outputs is trust and reliable.
  • Role holder is responsible to manage multiple clients from different regions having different time zones, regulatory environment, and maturity of business, data and systems.  Participate in different forums where could express her/his opinion about modeling process or be part of any global task force that direct manager considers subscribing to.

Requirements:

  • Having Bachelor, Diploma or Master’s degree in one of these preferred disciplines: economics, statistics, computer science, data science, analytics, statistics, econometrics. PHD a plus.
  • Expertise knowledge of the data management cycle within the banking industry in Mexico is desirable. 
  • 6+ years experience in data preparation using SAS or Python software or any other data science software. Cloud data processing a plus.
  • 6+ years Experience developing analytical models, predictive models, credit scoring solutions in bankin, insurance or telcos in the fields of CRM models, consultancy experience is welcome in the field of development of analytical methods
  • Demonstrate Intermediate to advance SAS, Python, SQL programmatic languages in the fields of statistics, data manipulation, reporting and analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience with documentation of large amount of process or analytical solutions, deployment and evangelization to business areas in the use of analytical models.
  • Experience of 4 year at least developing statistical and (or) Machine Learning models for solving diverse business challenges and creating significant business value
  • Intermediate to expert use of excel a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to develop and effectively communicate complex concepts and ideas.
  • Ownership to seeking, exploring and developing use cases for new data and/or tools/wider industry trends
  • Manage and maintain a strong relationship with stakeholder to gain confidence in order to develop use and trust in analytical models and tools.
  • Master in share knowledge to members teams and encourage them to innovate and share their knowledge also.
  • Expert business acumen with out-of-the box thinking to drive improved business performance
