HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organizations in the world, with operations in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realize their ambitions.

1) Role objective

Lead the delivery of Business Intelligence (BI) and analytics solutions for the US market, ensuring that dashboards, reports, and analyses drive measurable business outcomes. This role blends team leadershipstakeholder managementKPI governance, and data quality controls, working with Looker and Qlik Sense, using data on Google Cloud / BigQuery, and leveraging analytical capabilities with SAS.

2) Key responsibilities

a) Scope and decision-making

  • Set priorities and determine the right solution approach (dashboard vs report vs analysis) and KPI standards for the domain.
  • Decide the delivery approach (capacity planning, sequencing, trade-offs, and escalations).
  • Own delivery risks (dependencies, data readiness, timelines, and quality) and communicate proactively.

b) Leadership and delivery

  • Manage and develop the BI/Analytics team (coaching, work allocation, objectives, feedback, and performance management).
  • Lead demand intake, define priorities, and maintain a backlog/roadmap for US stakeholders.
  • Ensure consistent execution: meeting SLAs, high-quality deliverables, stable refresh cycles, incident management, and coordinated releases.

c) US stakeholder management

  • Act as the primary point of contact for US stakeholders: run discovery, clarify the decisions the solution must enable, and agree outcomes/success criteria.
  • Build executive-ready narratives and recommendations grounded in data; support decision-making and track follow-up actions.

d) BI governance and metric standardisation

  • Define and maintain KPIs, a metrics glossary, and visualisation standards (consistency, traceability, approved definitions).
  • Establish and monitor data quality controls (freshness, completeness, reconciliation, and validation).
  • Promote content governance: folder/space structure, ownership, dashboard lifecycle (sunset/recertification), and change control.

e) Looker / Qlik Sense / BigQuery

  • Guide solution design in Looker (reviewing and steering LookML) and Qlik Sense (apps, data model, performance), prioritising reusability and scalability.
  • Ensure BigQuery best practices: query efficiency, partitioning/clustering, cost awareness, and fit-for-purpose datasets for analytics consumption.
  • Partner with Data Management on data availability, pipeline changes, and performance improvements.

f) Analytics (SAS)

  • Ensure consistent use of SAS for analytics, validation, and/or analytical input preparation where applicable.
  • Review key analytical outputs and ensure reproducibility and appropriate documentation.

g) Risk, controls, and accountability

  • Ensure responsible data handling (access controls, classification, least privilege, security practices) and sufficient documentation for audit/controls where relevant.

3) Role requirements (Must-haves)

  • Strong experience leading end-to-end BI/Analytics delivery in enterprise environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in people management, performance management, and talent development.
  • Proven stakeholder management skills (including senior audiences) and experience working with distributed teams.
  • Advanced SQL with the ability to review/mentor team deliverables.
  • Hands-on experience with Looker and/or Qlik Sense (design, optimisation, and content governance).
  • Experience with Google Cloud / BigQuery for analytics consumption.
  • Working knowledge of SAS (analysis, validation, reporting/outputs).
  • Business-level English (meetings, presentations, documentation) to support US stakeholders.

Skills / behaviours expected

  • Strong ownership and accountability (“what we commit to, we deliver”).
  • Clear communication and influence in matrix environments.
  • Analytical mindset, internal-customer orientation, and focus on impact.
  • Ability to raise standards (quality, documentation, automation) without slowing delivery.

Due to the urgent hiring need, candidates with immediate right to work locally and no relocation need will be prioritized.
