Here in France, you’ll help evolve and grow our business, leading the development and implementation of comprehensive Data Management to support business analysis and decision making for our CIB (Corporate and Institutional Banking) activities in HBCE (HSBC Continental Europe). 

 

What you will do:  

 

The role holder will report to the Head of CIB and HBEU (HSBC Europe) Data Management. This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing and enhancing data activities across HBCE to establish robust and effective Data Management practices. 

 

The role holder will ensure that data management designs align with business requirements, regulatory controls, and compliance standards, delivering solutions that are cost-effective, sustainable, and future proof. They will utilise stakeholder management and communication skills to collaborate effectively and facilitate engagement both within CIB/HBEU and with external stakeholders, to drive the development and implementation of data management initiatives. They will sponsor significant organisational transformation efforts, uniting relevant teams to enhance data management capabilities. This will require expertise in managing large-scale change, demonstrating leadership, and navigating complex organisational dynamics.

They will also continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technologyAdditionally, they will ensure they effectively manage sales suitability, money laundering, counter terrorist financing, fraud, and reputational risk. 

 

 

In this role you will: 

  • Be responsible for Data Strategy, leading the overarching Data vision to ensure alignment with HBEU and Group objectives, developing a strategic roadmap for Data Management vision implementation, and acting as a trusted advisor on Data Management matters 

  • Ensure Stakeholder engagement, acting as the primary HBCE Data Management representative to foster ongoing engagement with stakeholders, ensuring alignment and support for the Group Data Strategy, collaborating with key stakeholders in securing adequate funding for the execution of agreed-upon data deliverables, and assisting in the prioritisation of funding initiatives 

  • Deliver subject matter expertise, providing global leadership by offering local insights into global deliverables, such as updates to operating instructions 

  • Oversee global efforts around data governance operations, to ensure compliance with data controls and overseeing data quality remediation initiatives, producing data governance documentation and reports as the global authority, and overseeing data controls-related internal audits and engaging with regulatory bodies 

  • Handle the formation of a new global HBCE Data Management team, building and optimizing data management capability, championing the use of cutting-edge data-driven approaches to enhance decision-making, and establishing a truly data-driven culture across CIB by encouraging the sharing of best practice for data and analytics between geographies and lines of businesses 

  • Successfully manage IT stakeholders subject matter experts, third party resources and project and operational teams to meet objectives, deliverables, and priorities 

  • Build and own relationships with key stakeholders, enabling the ability to execute at pace and be seen as a key influencer, partnering with Global CIB Data, Analytics teams, and Group DAO to ensure alignment, and partnering with Legal, Compliance, Information Security and Operational Risk to unlock data challenges 

  • Think strategically about our data management priorities, researching and keeping up to date with latest industry trends, embedding into projects and day-to-day deliverables as appropriate, and ensuring that the Bank meets and exceeds its regulatory and compliance obligations 

  • Foster a data-driven culture of accountability, trust, and psychological safety within the organisation 

 

 

You should apply if you have:  

 

  • An education degree within Finance, Business, Management, Engineering or equivalent 

  • Great oral and written communication and presentation skills in English 

  • A first successful experience driving large-scale transformation project 

  • A real interest for data management questions and optimization 

  • A great ability to influence and negotiate with senior and C-level stakeholders 

  • A combination of leadership and teamworking skills to get things done 

  • A great understanding of business organization to identify the best way data management could support our decision makers
