  • Review, recommend and approve credit proposals in line with authorised credit limits; liaise with Regional WCR / Group Risk when required.
  • Maintain sound credit quality aligned to HSBC’s credit culture (conservative, constructive, competitive) and promote prudent lending to minimise credit losses.
  • Identify, escalate and remediate emerging risks and sub-standard exposures; ensure actions are taken to protect the Bank’s interests with active involvement of business risk owners.
  • Engage stakeholders across Business/Product/Group and in-country Risk teams; collaborate on transaction pipelines, credit guidelines, portfolio/product reviews and appetite definition.
  • Drive efficient execution by minimising approval backlogs, delivering decisions within competitive timeframes, improving submission quality, and flagging issues/showstoppers early (incl. participation in pipeline meetings).

You should apply if you have:

  • An undergraduate or post-graduate degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Credit risk experience in relevant business lines (e.g., CIB, GM) with exposure to Banks, Sovereigns and NBFI credit scopes.
  • The ability to influence senior stakeholders and build effective relationships across functions and geographies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to translate risk considerations into business language.
  • Proven ability to prioritise competing demands and operate effectively in demanding environments.
  • Capability to assess internal/external risk trends and understand triggers (economic conditions, sector disruption, technology, market events, regulatory change), including broader risks (e.g., sustainability, reputational, operational).
  • Resilience, with sharp negotiation and communication skills.

Even if you feel you do not meet 100% of our qualifications, we encourage you to apply, if you believe this role is right for you.
