The Strategic Equity & Financing (SEF) team is responsible for originating and structuring tailor-made solutions in the context of strategic equity situations for HSBC’s clients (Corporate and Institutional Banking).
Whether it is part of a strategic shareholding lifecycle (stake building, financing, hedging or yield enhancement, stake disposal) or for listed companies on their own shares (convertible bonds, share buyback programmes, employee share-based compensation plans).
What you will do:
- Broad expertise across the full range of financing structures (margin loans and equity-linked bonds) and equity derivative products, both linear (forward sales, swaps, etc.) and option-based
- A wide variety of stakeholders (trading, coverage, sector teams, credit, accounting, tax, legal, compliance, middle office, back office, etc.) and clients (holding and investment companies, corporates from major European indices, family offices, midcaps, etc.)
In this role you will:
The Associate will assist the SEF team in its daily activities, including:

- Monitoring European equity markets, company disclosures and analyzing publicly available documents to identify potential deal opportunities for strategic equity transactions (share buybacks, minority stake building and disposals, hedging products, financing and equity-linked instruments, etc.)
- Performing ad hoc financial modelling in Excel
- Designing, adapting, and formatting marketing materials, internal memos (deal descriptions, presentations, etc.)
- Interacting with internal stakeholders and risk functions (trading, coverage, sector teams, credit, accounting, tax, legal, compliance, middle office, back office, etc.) particularly during the SEF transactions execution process (approvals discussions)
- Carrying out quantitative analyses on equities (e.g., volume analysis: ADTV, VWAP, etc.) and monitoring share buyback programs using market data (e.g., Bloomberg)
- Tracking threshold crossing and shareholding declarations through AMF or equivalent European regulators websites and databases
- Gaining familiarity with European regulations (MAR, Safe Harbor, disclosure obligations by country, etc.)
You should apply if you have:
- Master’s degree (Bac+4/5) with a specialization in finance or capital markets preferred (with a first experience of 4/5 years in banking or market finance)
- Strong knowledge of finance and basic quantitative tools (variance, volatility, discounting, yield calculations, etc.)
- Excellent command of Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Knowledge of Bloomberg and VBA is a plus
- Strong work ethic, ability to adapt quickly, autonomy, and attention to detail
- Languages: fluent in English and French; a third language is a plus
