Here in France, you’ll help evolve and grow our business, being accountable for all Procurement activities by the regional country teams, influencing and persuading global strategies and translating global strategies to local impact. The role holder will have an understanding of the business requirements and priorities in the region, with the responsibility to pro-actively manage and grow the region and country pipeline of savings opportunities and lead the execution of procurement projects.  

 

What you will do:  

 

The Head of Procurement (HoP) will work with stakeholders, category managers and country execution teams to pro-actively develop a pipeline of opportunities and projects, which may be global or local. The projects will be delivered in accordance with the Category and Commodity plans and will leverage the full range of supply and demand-side levers. Deep sourcing knowledge will be applied in the execution of these plans across all category areas whilst ensuring the risks associated with the purchase of goods and services are mitigated commercially, contractually and operationally. 

 

The HoP will develop influential senior region and in-country relationships and will lead the business in their approach to maintaining and leveraging value in their operational accountability for supplier relationships. It is expected that post contract value opportunities will be identified and delivered through working with own procurement teams, (business) supplier managers and the supply base. The role holder will have excellent relationship development and management skills to operate effectively with Heads of Procurement, supporting GSC (mainly Krakow) and business partner executives at a local and regional level to ensure alignment with respective goals and strategic objectives. 

 

The Procurement function provides a professional service to every division of HSBC, to HSBC Holdings, to all HSBC Group companies in the local region, and increasingly to HSBC. Procurement has been set challenging cost reduction targets to achieve and this role is critical to the delivery of this target. It is expected that the Head of Procurement HBCE will positively influence the Leadership Team of the in-region businesses/ functions. As assigned as a regional interface, act as the primary contact for the Regional COO in all respective operational management and risk management matters, collaborating with all Procurement teams in the specific geography. 

 

 

In this role you will: 

 

  • The HoP will support the Category Management team in ensuring that category strategies and plans are aligned to business strategies and that the outputs of sourcing projects are subsequently embedded in the businesses through the positive influence of COOs and their Leadership Teams 

  • With deep sourcing execution expertise, achieve or exceed agreed savings targets for the each assigned project: although not responsible for Category Planning, the HoP will monitor local market conditions and keep Category Management informed of emerging opportunities or changes 

  • Accountable for managing function costs appropriately including ensuring spend and FTE numbers are within plan. 

  • Accountable for all Procurement-owned risk issues including identifying and remediating risk items and audit findings; liaising with internal risk and control partners including Compliance, Risk and Audit 

  • Accountable for managing all Procurement-owned contracts 

  • Oversight of issues relating to Business Continuity, Records Retention Management, Information Security, Operational Losses and Near Misses for Procurement. 

  • Influence the business and act as pathfinder for senior business (including Legal) and supply market relationships and help make them accessible to Category Management  

  • Instill a responsive but strategic service and delivery culture, which makes business stakeholders and suppliers value the Procurement function  

  • Direct and develop the Procurement team, but balance with not undermining businesses' operational accountability for supplier relationships  

  • Ensure that the teams respond to and provide solutions for numerous diverse and complex purchasing, contractual payment, travel and logistical issues, helping to unblock and accelerate deals if necessary 

  • Continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology 

  • Demonstrate adherence to internal controls, all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records, following timely implementation of audit points, including issues raised by external regulators, and implementing appropriate controls for the Region working with Compliance and Risks teams 

 

 

You should apply if you have:  

 

  • Master’s degree or equivalent with a proven experience on a Procurement function and a managing function  

  • Ability to influence high-level stakeholders 

  • Problem-solving abilities, looking for solutions to optimize our procurement and vendors management activitiesi 

  • Great oral and written presentation and communication skills in French and in English 

  • Proven ability to drive teams across boarders in a multicultural and matrix complex environment 

  • Goal-oriented procurement professional demonstrating tenacity, dynamism, and continuous improvement 

  • Understand complex business problems, apply advanced analytical thinking and market knowledge to drive the most appropriate business outcome 

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and set expectations
