Job description

If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC and fulfil your potential. Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team in the role of Non-Financial Risk VP (SSV Operations Agency Lending and Treasury).

This role will lead the Non‑Financial Risk (NFR) capability for Securities Services Agency Lending & Treasury Operations globally, supporting delivery of the NFR strategy and control culture for the remit. The role holder will help ensure the business operates within risk appetite by embedding effective risk management processes and a robust, consistent control framework.

The role holder will lead a global team responsible for governance, mobilisation and ongoing management of the control environment, providing clear visibility of emerging risks, incidents and control performance to enable timely escalation and decision‑making. The role requires close partnership with MSS Operations senior leadership, Securities Services stakeholders and the broader MSS NFR team, alongside a strong understanding of operational processes and change activity across SSV Operations to drive continuous improvement and sustainable outcomes.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Define and oversee the operation of relevant controls around Agency Lending & Treasury NFR across MSS Operations.
  • Deliver against the Agency Lending & Treasury NFR Book of Work, established to improve the payments landscape within MSS Operations.
  • Ensure seamless coverage and representation across both Markets and Securities Services businesses.
  • Work with the team to collate a monthly governance forum, facilitate the meeting, and bring accountability to the Control Owners and Senior Leaders in attendance.
  • Act as liaison between MSS Operations and key stakeholders and service providers.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate controls to ensure compliance to Payment Transparency standards and FCC requirements in end‑to‑end payment flows.

To be successful in this role you should have:

  • Experience in Operations NFR / Operational Risk / Controls within a large financial institution, ideally within MSS (particularly Securities Services Agency Lending & Treasury) or a similar high‑volume, time‑critical operational environment, with direct accountability for a defined operational remit.

  • Embed mature, consistent NFR governance and MI across the remit, with proactive risk identification and early escalation of emerging themes to the Head of SSV Operations NFR.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders in a matrix environment and drive outcomes through others without direct authority.
  • Strong understanding of risk and control frameworks, issue management, and assurance/audit practices (including evidence standards and validation expectations).
  • Familiarity with process re‑engineering, automation, and embedding controls into digital change in partnership with Change/Technology teams.
