Ready to build an enterprise-scale Decision Intelligence platform for real-time risk decisioning?
Why HSBC
HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world. Guided by our purpose of opening up a world of opportunity, our ambition is to become the world’s most trusted bank globally, putting customers at the heart of everything we do.
The Role
Fraud and credit risk (FCS) are crucial risk management functions in the Bank where thousands of decisions per second balance customer experience, risk outcomes and operational cost to protect and benefit our customers. This role will shape and deliver the modernisation of HSBC’s fraud and credit systems, introducing next-generation AI and GenAI solutions to enable faster, smarter and more dynamic real-time risk decisioning.
You’ll work with business and technology teams to help define the future state of Fraud and Credit Risk management capabilities through advanced machine learning and artificial intelligence. In this senior business leadership position, you’ll drive the product vision and multi-year roadmap to deliver a truly AI enabled decision intelligence platform that dynamically protects millions of customers.
What you’ll be doing
- Leverage knowledge and understanding of transformer-based ML, graph intelligence, Agentic feature discovery, continuous learning, modern MLOPs and other GenAI technology patterns to help define the future-state decision intelligence capability for fraud and credit risk management
- Help to create a dynamic and reactive customer intelligence layer that enables continuous risk assessment leveraging traditional machine learning, transformer-based architecture, vector database concepts and other related technology components to deliver world class customer protection without minimal friction
- Build and drive a sequenced 24-month roadmap with clear milestones, dependencies and measurable business outcomes
- Shape investment choices and prioritisation across a transformation portfolio with anticipated spend of >USD 100m over two years (not a direct budget owner)
- Help Business and Product teams to work with Technology to bring fraud and credit management requirement to right technical patterns
What we’re looking for
- Technical fluency in applied machine learning techniques including transformer based MLOPS. Strong exposure to the GenAI technical stack, partnering with Business and Technology teams
- Fraud/credit domain experience is advantageous but not required – we value strong technical leadership and the ability to learn quickly with SME partners
- Demonstrated ability to shape target state, secure decisions and deliver through global matrix leadership across Technology, Data, Operations and Risk
- Strong technical depth in streaming/event architectures, entity/graph intelligence, and modern ML (e.g., GBMs + deep learning),
- Experience applying governed GenAI and Agentic AI patterns (grounding, permissions, failure modes and auditability)
- Experience driving change in a cross functional execution environment cutting across Technology, Business, Operations and Data Science
- Exceptional communication skills and analytical skills
- Technically qualified in a relevant field at a graduate level with Business exposure
Building Decision Intelligence at Scale
This is an opportunity to shape how fraud and credit decisions are made across a complex international Bank – turning data and latest technology into outcomes customers and colleagues will feel. You’ll set the target capability, align stakeholders around a clear roadmap and help teams deliver reusable services that scale across domains. The work is measured in value and control: reduced losses, better approvals, lower friction and decisioning that stands up to scrutiny. If you want to build a modern decision intelligence platform in a regulated global environment, this role offers the scope to make it real.
