We’re currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of CIB and HCIB RC Risk Stewardship, Senior Manager.

 

The role forms part of the HCIB Entity RC Risk Stewardship team within CIB & HCIB RC enabling the business to deliver sustainable growth by supporting the embedding of a robust risk management culture in HSBCs business processes to ensure that the business complies with the letter and spirit of relevant regulations, thereby delivering fair outcomes for customers. Implementing a robust and effective oversight mechanism for compliance responsibilities within HSBC Bank Plc and for providing RC oversight and challenge of RC Risks within the HCIB Entity & Global CIB Coverage.

 

This role can be based in Sheffield, Birmingham or Edinburgh.

In this role you’ll:

 

  • Support the Team Head in improving and maintaining the day-to-day running of the RC team at HCIB and CIB level, ensuring efficient decision-making and execution through leadership, continuous improvement, and best practice.
  • Communicate key outputs, decisions, and messaging across in-scope areas.
  • Execute and track project initiatives and deliverables within remit, providing timely updates to the Head of HCIB RC Entity Risk Stewardship, the Head of CIB & HCIB RC, and other key stakeholders.
  • Support the Group’s RC strategy by identifying emerging issues and trends, and advising Senior Management on potential impacts to the management of RC risk.
  • Ensure effective RC input into entity governance and reporting processes.
  • Support line management with “crisis” management activities (e.g., ad hoc investigations into rule breaches).
  • Provide RC input into entity compliance projects (as directed by Compliance Heads) and relevant systems developments impacting CIB/HCIB RC.
  • Provide insights and analysis on the HCIB/CIB RC risk profile through risk profile reporting, including the Risk Appetite Statement (RAS) and Risk Map processes, with elements of risk stewardship oversight, working closely with Global CIB RC Product teams.
  • Drive thematic risk and control read-across across countries, regions, and global business lines.
  • Provide ongoing oversight of the Risk & Control Assessment (RCA) process to ensure consistent interpretation and application of risks and controls across CIB RC, including identification and escalation of inconsistencies.
  • Ensure in-scope teams understand the HSBC Conduct Framework and provide RC stewardship for conduct risks.
  • Support CIB cross-border tooling and RC risk stewardship for cross-border risks/licensing.

 

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

 

  • Familiarity with HSBC’s culture, policies and procedures (preferred, not essential).
  • Strong understanding of the purpose, value and core principles of the Regulatory Compliance function.
  • Demonstrated experience working within a complex, global regulatory environment.
  • Confidence engaging senior and executive stakeholders, with the ability to align differing priorities.
  • A clear commitment to building RC knowledge and capability in a fast-changing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including producing high-quality reports and presenting to senior audiences.
  • Ability to perform under pressure, managing competing and rapidly shifting priorities (essential).
  • Strong analytical capability, including distilling key risks and issues from large volumes of MI.
  • Ability to make and support recommendations with sound reasoning, clearly explaining risk, policy, and business/regulatory impacts.
  • A proactive, self-starting approach with strong collaboration, attention to detail, and reliable delivery to deadlines.
  • Sound judgement and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think laterally.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills.
