Job description
ob Purpose
- Plan and direct the finance function of GSC Sri Lanka to ensure best practice and consistency achieved in all aspects of the finance function.
- Maintain HSBC Finance internal control standards.
- Ensure good relationships with all key stakeholders.
- Set a high standard of continuous staff motivation and leadership to ensure a good work environment leading to committed staff that take pride in working for the company.
Principal Accountabilities
Impact on the Business/Function
Financial reporting
- Ensure timely provide the comprehensive MI performance review and analysis to GSC Sri Lanka management team and ServCo central Finance team.
- Give financial insightful analysis to support on decision making.
- Support Centra Director on the entity level FRP.
- Propose control area and action points on the GSC Sri Lanka financial position, assist senior management team to deliver the financial targets.
Governance and oversight model
- Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators
- Implement the Group Compliance Policy, as applicable to the roles
- Aware the Operational Risk that associated with the role, and to ensure that all actions during the employment with HSBC take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring
- Lead the initiative on setting up of a robust internal control environment and its ongoing maintenance. Identify areas for reinforcing controls.
Support on business events
- Help implementation of the Group Global Processing Strategy by supporting the development of the center
- Co-ordinate preparation and review of business cases.
Treasury Management
- Controlling and monitoring finance requirements and ensuring adherence to recharge methodology and billing rationale.
- Ensure timely Accounts Receivable collection and minimize overdue.
- Funds management to ensure cash is sufficient for the entity.
- Monitor foreign currency exposure and minimize forex risk.
Taxation
- Planning and directing the taxation function of the center. Compliance with local tax laws and monitor developments in regulations.
- Assist in co-ordination of building an appropriate transfer pricing mechanism.
- Ensuring best practice and consistency is achieved in taxation. Ensuring good relationships are maintained with relevant external authorities
Customers / Stakeholders
- Perform effective and proactive partnering with all functions to FRP (plan) and forecast and provide meaningful action-oriented insights to ensure and enhance effective management of costs and revenue streams.
- Assist in ensuring successful outcomes of internal, external and regulatory audits.
- Ensure billing/inter-company recharge adherence to recharge methodology and billing rationale.
- Act as Relationship Manager with key stakeholders and service providers to Finance (e.g. IT, CRE and HR) and represent the Finance function HSBC-wide, internally.
Leadership & Teamwork
- Ensure that the team is set up to deliver. Lead and motivate team members with clear objectives and performance management

Operational Effectiveness & Control:
- Leadership over all regulatory and compliance matters, and the management of operational risk related to Finance
- Operational risk co-ordination for Global Finance
- Perform monitoring activities to ensure Governance / Oversight of Global Finance adherence to FIM
Certifications, Qualifications & Experience
Knowledge
- University degree in Accountancy. Higher qualification not a bar provided aspirations commensurate with the position
- CIMA, CMA, ACCA or CICPA
Experience
- 10 years’ experience in financial area, with 5 years’ management experience in finance/accounting position.
- Strong knowledge and experience in financial analysis/General ledger/Fixed asset/Accounts receivable/Treasury Management/Tax.
- Experience with EPR System and familiar with Finance functions
- Manage a team, audit experience and can work under pressure.
- Given the complexities and responsibilities of the position the jobholder must be a seasoned manager with a wide range of skills including dealing with people of different levels and cultures.
