Manager, Financial Crime Compliance
Zurich, Zurich, CH, CH 8002
Job description
The opportunity:
Being part of HSBC in Switzerland, you’ll help evolve and grow our business.
Our Financial Crime (FC) Function sits in the Second Line of Defence (2LoD) and brings together independent Risk Stewards and specialist capabilities across intelligence, analytics, technology, detection and investigation. We provide robust oversight and constructive challenge to the First Line of Defence (1LoD), helping to ensure that FC risks are identified, managed and controlled effectively and consistently.
FC risk is a key non-financial risk, spanning areas such as fraud, money laundering, bribery and corruption, sanctions, terrorist and proliferation financing, export controls and tax evasion. We operate in line with HSBC Group’s Risk Management Framework (RMF) — and our work has real-world impact, protecting customers and safeguarding trust in the banking system.
Are you interested? Do you have experience in FC Risk management advisory? Do you enjoy being part of a cohesive team?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, we want to hear from you!
What you will do:
As a Manager in Financial Crime, you’ll help strengthen the end-to-end oversight of the FC control environment by turning data, reporting and reviews into clear, decision-ready insight. You’ll support the delivery of core stewardship activities such as governance pack production, trend and heatmap analysis, issue and action tracking, and read-across from assurance outputs so that key themes and vulnerabilities are surfaced early and addressed. You’ll also contribute to the upkeep of Global FC policy and supporting guidance, helping drive consistency in how the FC framework is applied across markets, while partnering with stakeholders to progress change initiatives and improve risk outcomes.
In this role you will:
- Provide FC control oversight and challenge by supporting Global/Regional FC Risk Stewards with analysis of issue management, FLOD / (2LoD) controls, and inherent/residual risk assessments; escalate and communicate overdue issues/actions to stakeholders in line with guidance
- Perform cross-LoD read-across and thematic insight by reviewing 2LoD / 3LoD outputs (e.g., Audit and Assurance reports), producing read-across actions for Risk Stewards, and maintaining summary trackers (e.g., Audit Summary Matrix) to identify recurring themes and vulnerabilities
- Maintain and enhance the FC framework and documentation by supporting updates to Global FC Policy and related guidance, coordinating consultations with Risk Stewards and stakeholders, and ensuring consistent application of the FC framework across markets
- Translate Management Information (MI) into actionable stewardship insight by analysing 1LoD control MI, heatmaps, Key Control Indicators (KCI) / Key Risk Indicators (KRI) metrics and trend data to highlight gaps, enhancements or emerging risks; coordinate with 1LoD and escalate control failures and risk hotspots
- Deliver governance reporting and stakeholder management by preparing and designing governance packs and dashboards that present the key data needed to assess the FC control environment, and by supporting responses, follow-ups and stakeholder challenge (including exception reporting) to help discharge Non-Financial Risk Owner (NFRO) obligations
- Support change, projects and risk assessments by coordinating projects and market-led change initiatives, reviewing business proposals and key risk artefacts (e.g., Root Cause Analyses (RCA), control descriptions, residual risk narratives, trigger events and incident follow-ups), and contributing to thematic reviews and training needs analysis
You should apply if you have:

- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, with experience of dealing with stakeholders including the capacity to articulate the case for risk management
- Experience of interpreting and analysing a large volume of information and / or data and provide succinct summary for management
- Ability to lead change, contributing to joining up with the other teams in Risk and Compliance and Business globally
