We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Sr. Associate Director, Software Engineering.

Principal responsibilities:

1. Understand Group and GTS Technology strategy, help define technical strategy and execute to fulfill business needs and aspirations on growth, management and control.

2. Plan for people and project management, provide coaching and guiding directly or indirectly to teams having developers, testers, analyst and architects inside by giving clear direction, feedbacks and timely suggestions to ensure a high quality standard of deliverables according to HSBC standards and best practices.

3. Address existing technical debt and drive for technical evolution aka Trade Transformation for the teams by working closely with various parties including business, SMEs, Solution Architects globally.

4. Establish and maintain trustworthy relationships with business and relevant stakeholders.  Manage expectation of key stakeholders and work jointly to maximize interest of business and customers.

5. Manage supply and demand pipeline and give guidance, direction for making decision to achieve goals, deliver products that align with business.

6. Ensure strict adherence to all regulatory issues and compliance of all internal controls. Management of operational risk.

7. Work closely with business and IT teams on various projects and support items, coordinate among business/IT and regional delivery teams.

8. End to end accountability for each delivery, identifying and developing the most appropriate Technology solutions to meet customer needs as part of the Customer Journey.

9. Ensure service resilience, service sustainability and recovery time objectives are met.

10. Sensitive to the industry uplift of technologies, tools and practices and their business trends.

 

Knowledge & Experience/Qualifications:

1. Candidate must be fluent in English with strong senior leadership management skill, ability / experienced with delivery of projects in the IT industry with over 15 years of experience,  full knowledge in monitoring and controlling each phase of the software development lifecycle process.

2. Solid Trade Finance domain knowledge with 10+ years of experience with technical know-how, hands-on exerpeience in supporting and enhancing banking/finance systems.

3. Should have knowledge about high level systems architucture and various process as well as user journey in Trade Finance.

4. Proven experience of delining project scope, objectives and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with sernior management and stakeholders.

5. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

6. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to develop creative solutions to complex challenges. Strong experience with Production Support and incident management.

7. Manage project timelines, milestones, and deliverables, ensuring all are met according to plan and following strategy.

8. Being diversity and inclusive, willing to work within colleague with different cultures across the globe.

 

What additional skills will be good to have?

1. University graduate with a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline with 15+ years of relevant experience.

2. Hands-on exposure to GenAI toolchains (e.g., RAG, vector search, prompt engineering, evaluation and governance).

3. Enthusiastic and self-motivated with excellent time management skills and strong initiative.

4. Self-motivated, positive, and flexible with the ability to work independently and as part of a global team.
