We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Software Engineer.

Principal responsibilities

• Conduct production support activities, including system health checks and ad-hoc communications, to ensure the stability and reliability of the Prophet Managed Cloud Services (PMCS) platform.
• Collaborate with the Insurance Actuarial and Reporting teams to maintain seamless operations and address system-related challenges.
• Ensure the technical stability and performance of the PMCS platform, which supports actuarial processes with an annual spend of approximately $7 million.
• Deliver end-to-end solutions on the shared technology platform for actuarial and insurance risk systems, ensuring alignment with actuarial requirements.
• Proactively manage and optimize the PMCS platform to enhance overall efficiency and system reliability.

Knowledge & Experience/Qualifications

• Implement PMCS storage management and optimization using Python.
• Perform daily health checks for PMCS and other applications, including ICE score checks, and address ICE items to ensure a score of 100.
• Manage actuarial team users and promptly resolve production incidents reported by them.
• Regularly review AWS CloudWatch Dashboard data, such as server CPU and memory utilization, to ensure system availability.
• Manage and track progress on PMCS system enhancement support projects.
• Communicate with FIS and Business teams regarding PMCS-related change requests, create HSBC-related records, and ensure timely completion for smooth production operations.
• Strong problem-solving skills to address vendor system issues, identify root causes, and enhance system performance in collaboration with IT teams.
• Proficiency in Agile practices (e.g., sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives) and tools such as PowerPoint, JIRA, Confluence, ServiceNow, SharePoint, and Qliksense for project management.
• Ability to quickly adapt to new systems and assist users in resolving production incidents.
• Experience in managing database systems (MySQL, SQL Server) and performing system maintenance using programming languages like Java and Python.
• Expertise in optimizing workflows using MS Power App and Power BI.
• Hands-on experience in providing application production support for cloud services (AWS, Azure).
• Solid background in production support and IT project management.
• Capability to handle compliance-related issues across various application systems.
• Advanced knowledge of cloud services (AWS, Azure) and database management (MySQL, SQL Server).
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python.
• Familiarity with MS Power App, Power BI, and Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Visio, Project).
• Skilled in using Agile tools and methodologies, including JIRA, Confluence, ServiceNow, SharePoint, and Qliksense.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities..
• Expertise in Java for implementing automation processes in system management.
• Knowledge of the insurance domain and related processes.
• Familiarity with IFRS17 standards and actuarial workflows.
• Experience with Prophet software and its integration.
• Proficiency in SQL for database querying and management.
• Hands-on experience with Postman for API testing and debugging.
• Prior experience with the PMCS system and its functionalities.
• Certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) or database management.
• Advanced knowledge of scripting languages like Python.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools for CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong understanding of IT compliance and regulatory standards.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language and successful completion of the SWC (Yellow/Orange Belt) certification.
