We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Lead Architect.
Business: CTO Data Technology
Principal responsibilities
- Rapidly understanding business requirements through regular interactions with the CIB Chief Data Office (CDO), business users and other subject matter experts.
- Translating business requirements into solution designs and functional requirements.
- Building technical and logical designs
- Communication of functional solutions to the development team plus ongoing support of the developers as needed.
- Working closely with the production support team to ensure all new software is well understood and readily supported.
- Active promotion of solution architecture, best practice techniques, standards and tools
- Providing recommendations and roadmaps for proposed solutions
- Documenting and sharing best practice knowledge for new solutions
- Advocating for process improvements and helping develop solutions
- Providing technical leadership to a team throughout the project lifecycle
- Developing proof-of-concept projects to validate your proposed solutions
- Reviewing and validating solutions designs from other team members
- Managing and defining the detailed end to end solution design for products and features in a way that supports the execution of the technology strategy and roadmap, articulating and addressing associated architectural risks, issues and technical debt.
- Ensuring the design of the solutions are cost effective and maintained through the agile development lifecycle, managing the flow of the backlog of design activities.
- Ensuring the architecture undergoes appropriate level of assessment at the right stage throughout the agile process in line with the governance process
- Ensuring appropriate level of governance for any decisions when deviating from reference architectures, strategies, patterns or policies.
- Ensuring peer review and solutions design decision making verification and traceability
- Collaborating with the Enterprise, Platform and Value Stream architects to evolve the architectural strategy and roadmap; looking for opportunities to improve the current landscape/enterprise.
- Note that some project management may be required from time to time to ensure the success of any project implementing requirements the candidate has specified.
Requirements
- At least 5 years’ experience of working within a large, complex and geographically dispersed organisation (including matrix management structure and across time zones) as a Solution Architect
- Ability to think logically and abstract the architectural patterns from the technical solutions
- Strong leadership and an ability to articulate, present and obtain approval for solutions at the right level for a wide audience (IT and Business)
- Experience with Streaming technologies (Kafka, Flink, Pub/Sub)
- Knowledge of application integration patterns: REST API, Microservices
- Knowledge of database technologies: SQL / NoSQL
- Knowledge of Data Warehousing & ETL / data integration aspects
- Operating Systems & Scripting: Linux, Shell Scripting (Bash, AWK), PowerShell
- Experience with any cloud platform: GCP, Azure, AWS
- Experience with Big Data platforms: BQ, Hadoop, Spark, Databricks
- Knowledge of containerization concepts: Docker, Kubernetes (IKP, GKE)
- Experience in designing with good understanding on abstraction techniques
- Proven analysis skills with the ability to challenge designs / decisions.
- Experience in managing and resolving complex issues using proven analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to quickly get up to speed with the current data landscape and apply acquired analysis and data skills to new contexts and approaches
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills. A strong ability to communicate virtually e.g. conference calls and video conferencing
- Strong planning, organisation and time management skills with a demonstrated ability to work to deadlines
- Commercial acumen and ability to apply this to Business and IT data requirements
- Self-awareness and with the confidence to work independently
