Principal responsibilities

• Establish and maintain the community of Android/iOS engineers across the Mobile Foundation, Channel Transformation, and beyond.
• Lead and govern the adoption of the ‘HSBC way’ of engineering for mobile apps, setting technical direction and architectural standards.
• Collaborate with technical leaders and product owners to define product and project strategy, code standards, and roadmaps.
• Advocate and advance modern software development practices within the engineering community.
• Participate in broader discussions about mobile software architecture and cross-team initiatives.
• Grow the technical expertise of the engineering community through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and active participation in engineering disciplines.
• Work closely with teams, product owners, agile coaches, and other stakeholders to deliver world-class tools and capabilities.
• Act as an advocate for quality, ensuring robust solutions and acting as a gatekeeper for the definition of done.
• Document solutions and foster a strong engineering culture across multiple engineering centres and territories.

Requirements

• BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Extensive experience as a Senior Lead in large-scale mobile engineering environments.
• Demonstrated leadership in building and scaling engineering communities.
• Strong mentoring skills and experience in fostering an inclusive, high-performing culture.
• Deep expertise in native iOS and/or Android development, with a passion for modern development practices.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams and geographies.
• Track record of driving productivity, quality, and innovation in engineering teams.
