We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Director, Data and Analytics.

 

Business: CTO Data Technology

 

Principal responsibilities

  • Formulate and lead the end-to-end architectural design and delivery for the Risk & Reg value stream, ensuring scalable, future-proof, and resilient blueprints.
  • Establish architectural patterns and strategy for hybrid and multi-cloud solutions running across Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Alibaba Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.
  • Architect solutions that seamlessly integrate and transition data workloads from legacy on-premises big data platforms (Hadoop, Apache Spark) to hybrid cloud deployments.
  • Formulate, document, and present high-quality architecture definitions and design proposals to the formal governance body, the Design Studio, ensuring timely approvals and alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Assess risks and issues systematically, and work with engineering, platform, and delivery teams to generate and execute effective mitigation countermeasures and contingency plans.
  • Collaborate with central security, networking, and cloud enablement/infra teams to ensure compliance with stringent financial controls and regulatory policies.
  • Partner with Traded Risk business stakeholders, Quantitative Analysts (Quants), and Product Owners to deeply understand business motivations, risk models, challenges, and objectives.
  • Provide strong mentoring and guidance to engineering teams, translating high-level architecture designs into clear, actionable technical patterns.
  • Continuously driving architectural innovation and creativity, identifying unique ways to improve the delivery and cost-efficiency of the future-state architecture.

 

Requirements

  • 7+ years of software engineering and architecture experience, with proven technical leadership in a global enterprise environment.
  • Deep Domain Knowledge: Strong domain knowledge, including business stakeholder motivations, risk engine operating models, regulatory standards, and typical data/performance challenges
  • On-Prem Big Data: Extensive hands-on experience designing and optimizing large-scale on-prem data processing architectures using Hadoop, Spark, Hive, and HDFS environments.
  • Multi-Cloud Expertise: Strong architecture design and implementation experience deploying secure, resilient services on GCP (primary), Alibaba Cloud, and/or Microsoft Azure.
  • Governance & Design Studio: Experience taking complex technical designs successfully through formal architecture governance (e.g., Design Studio, security approvals, and risk boards).
  • Leadership: Positively influence others to achieve results that support the outcomes of the programme and of the wider bank in general.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions. Leverage technology solutions more broadly available across the Group where applicable.
  • Communicate Effectively: Strong communication skills to listen, write, and present complex technological solutions clearly and thoroughly to both business and technical stakeholders.
  • Decision Making & Urgency: Strong capacity to assess situations, evaluate importance, urgency, and risks, and make clear, timely decisions in the best interests of the organization.
  • Planning & Organizing: Proven capability to set priorities, outline work schedules, track technical milestones, and execute strategic plan evaluations.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience delivering high-throughput risk-calculation engines, reporting pipelines, or market data feeds in a CIB environment.
  • Technical understanding of hybrid-cloud VPC designs, cross-cloud connectivity, IAM security controls, and containerized architectures (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Practical experience with Agile / Scrum practices, DevOps tooling, and release governance.
  • High standards of ethical behavior, ensuring all practices align with the bank's values, compliance duties, and internal risk/operational guidelines.
