The Business Development category is responsible for generating new business and for initiating and managing business development initiatives.

 

As our Business Development Manager you will:

  • Assist in establishing new business relationships and strengthening existing ones, whilst ensuring fair outcomes for all types of customers
  • Assist in the communication of new products, propositions and relevant market information to customers
  • Identify sales opportunities and develop these opportunities
  • Support distribution channel business development strategies
  • Support plans and strategies to generate new business, as well as increasing revenue for existing ones, in order to achieve asset growth, sales or revenue targets
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, which may include relationship mangers and product specialists, to maximise cross-selling opportunities for the bank
  • Participate in events, initiatives and activities to develop business opportunities
  • Protecte the bank's reputation and ensuring an acceptable risk profile, whilst deepening your understanding of the client through credit and customer due diligence reviews
  • Help drive the business development activities within the Asset Management business using influencing skills to build appropriate sales relationships within HBBM (HSBC Bermuda) and with external clients
  • Identify appropriate asset management opportunities and respond to potential business enquiries, as required, and makes appropriate due diligence inquiries regarding intermediaries/clients
  • Use a consultative or participative approach, encouraging positive peer relationship and treating others with respect. 
  • Prepare/present client proposals
  • Develop contacts with industry professionals, including financial, legal and other advisors and participate in appropriate community and business activities to promote the interests and reputation of the division
  • Develop internal contacts in other jurisdictions to identify cross-border sales opportunities and connect Bermuda to the rest of the world
  • Be responsible for development and maintenance of required databases (client data, call reports, client contacts) to assist both business development and relationship activities
  • Compile and analyze statistics pertinent to the business development program and make recommendations or suggestions as appropriate
  • Help develop an effective business development effort by leveraging resources in the distribution channels of the Bank, specifically work with relationship managers

You’ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in new business development, cross-selling, investment products and customer service/relations
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of Asset Management Products, Design and Services relating to institutional clients, including fixed income, equity, emerging market debt, alternative strategies and mutual funds
  • Knowledge of banking practices and products/services including:   Market Trends, Product Design and Development, Marketing Research/Strategy Development, Treasury Functions, International Finance, Investment Instruments, World Markets, Investment Regulations & Compliance, Portfolio/Fund Management, Bermuda Law, Advertising/Promotion, Product Management, Competitive Analysis
  • Experience working within the financial industry, preferably in an institutional asset management sales capacity
  • Knowledge of the Bermuda Insurance landscape, especially the captive insurance market, would be desired
