The Opportunity
HSBC Digital Business Services provides essential operational and technical support to our global businesses, helping improve customer service and efficiency. In this role you will help build and enhance a scalable, resilient and highly available Collateral Treasury trading platform used across four regions - HSBC Bank Europe (HBEU), HSBC Bank Asia-Pacific (HBAP), HSBC Bank USA (HBUS) and HSBC Bank Canada (HBCE). You will work closely with the Collateral Treasury trading desk and product teams to deliver new functionality and platform enhancements with speed, accuracy and quality. The work is delivered in a regulated environment, partnering with Compliance, Non-Financial Risk (NFR) and other risk and control stakeholders to keep the platform aligned with regulatory requirements and internal policies. Success means evolving the platform’s design and architecture while strengthening reliability, scalability and the quality of delivery.
What you'll be doing
- Build and enhance a scalable, resilient and highly available Collateral Treasury trading platform across HSBC Bank Europe (HBEU), HSBC Bank Asia-Pacific (HBAP), HSBC Bank USA (HBUS) and HSBC Bank Canada (HBCE)
- Shape the design, architecture and technical evolution of the platform in line with strategic business and technology objectives
- Partner with the Collateral Treasury trading desk and product teams to deliver new functionality and platform enhancements
- Collaborate with Compliance, Non-Financial Risk (NFR) and risk and control stakeholders to align with regulatory requirements and internal policies
- Strengthen collaboration across the global engineering team through joint development, code reviews and knowledge sharing
- Influence the target-state architecture and the future direction of the platform and its supporting technology landscape
What we're looking for
- Bring expert-level Java development experience including the Java Virtual Machine (JVM), garbage collection, data structures and non-blocking input/output (I/O)
- Build cloud-native applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) with strong understanding of deployment patterns, scalability, resilience and managed services
- Design and build technology solutions in a regulated environment with awareness of risk and risk management principles
- Deliver software using Agile practices and apply DevOps principles and toolchains
- Partner effectively with trading, product and engineering stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes at pace
- Bring experience in investment banking or financial services
- Apply artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) enabled application development experience to integrate capabilities using modern services or frameworks where relevant
- Bring knowledge of Prime Brokerage and distributed trading platform architecture or equivalent demonstrable experience
Building the Collateral Treasury platform
This is a hands-on engineering role with direct impact on how Collateral Treasury operates across regions. You will work with stakeholders close to the business while helping shape the platform’s future architecture and delivery approach.
