We are currently seeking a highly qualified individual to join the Institutional Client Group (ICG) Team in our Japan office. As a member of the team, the successful candidate will support the wider Institutional Client franchise.

 

Team Description

The Institutional Client Coverage team in Japan is a growing and exciting segment within HSBC. We are a product agnostic group in charge of managing the relationship with our clients, understanding their needs, their industry trends and ensuring HSBC supports them in achieving their financial objectives. The ICG team covers a wide array of institutional clients including Banks, Insurers, Sponsors, Sovereign Wealth Funds, Asset Managers, Hedge funds and Public Sector

 

About the Job

The individual will be driving the growth strategy of the business and managing risk on the portfolio.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the client base
  • Drive revenue growth across Japan Financial Institutional client portfolio and International Financial institution clients investing into Japan
  • Define and implement client plans
  • Liaise with regional counterparts acting as central point of contact for local matters.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including product partners
  • Understand and ensure compliance with all relevant internal & external rules, regulations & procedures.
  • Act as the First Line of Defence to protect HSBC against Financial Crime and to ensure credit risk arising from the relationship with the clients is proactively managed at all times

To be successful in this role you will require:

  • Knowledge of industry and exposure to Japan financial industry, local & global institutional client market & regulatory environment.
  • Knowledge of banking, markets and securities services products
  • Preferably knowledge of HSBC Group and products coupled with a strong network of contacts across business areas.
  • Advanced understanding of risk management, risk mitigation and Client Due Diligence risks.
  • Excellent team player with a proactive approach and strong interpersonal, sales and communication skills.
  • Highly motivated, eager to accept new challenges and able to work under pressure.
  • The ability to form effective relationships and exercise influence at the most senior level of the organization, both internally and externally
  • A strong understanding of risk management and risk mitigation
  • Uphold the highest level of integrity and act as a role model for all HSBC values and business principles
