Role Purpose
- To help Global Relationship Banker (GRB), accountable and responsible for providing global customer coverage and effective delivery of our franchise.
- To assist IMM Head, who act as part of the leadership team and contribute to the growth of business activity while contributing to the wider country business in terms of strategy, risk, and opportunity.
- To prospect and acquire corporates who are headquartered in Japan for driving sustainable business growth. This is to be achieved through the coordination of relationship management activities with the Global Network Banking (GNB) RMs (and RRMs where applicable) of the subsidiaries/ branches/ affiliates/ representative offices of the client company and also through close collaboration with product partners in order to deliver comprehensive solutions to meet a customer’s cross border needs.
- To build a strong understanding of client needs, operating with the key and primary decision makers within the client organization, entering into dialogue with the client in regard to fulfill long and short term banking needs which should include both event and flow transactions.

- To promote client engagement and maximize global revenues.
- Actively identify business opportunities and promote HQ and subsidiary engagement.
- To drive marketing dialogue by providing information and guidance in Japan and to other Group offices.
- To support all CDD and KYC requirements, in line with HSBC’s global standards
- Coordinating with the parent to ensure that all the necessary CDD/KYC is supported at the sub level including coordinating with parent for documents, negative news screening on the ground etc.
- To support necessary reporting and marketing infrastructure
- Working with IMM Head to deliver business performance reporting to all stakeholders
- Working with necessary regional and country teams to create customer oriented messaging frameworks, pitchbooks, and material ensuring necessary language orientation as well.
Customers / Stakeholders
- To enhance relationship within the IMM portfolio.
- Thoroughly preparing for calling, understanding all customer global needs
- Keeping abreast of industry / market development so as to understand customer needs and identify business opportunities.
- Grow HSBC's share of client wallet involving product specialists to ensure product capabilities are in line with client/sector requirements
- To assist business development activities led by IMM Head
Leadership & Teamwork
- To maximize the collaboration with stakeholders with the support provided by IMM Head.

Operational Effectiveness & Control
- To maintain HSBC internal control standards, implement and observe Group Compliance Policy and minimize the likelihood of it occurring.

- Maintain and ensure due observance of HSBC Internal Credit Standards, including the timely implementation of recommendations made by internal / external auditors and external regulators. Ensure awareness of compliance requirement and implementation of Group Compliance policy. Maintain awareness of operational risk including its identification, assessment, mitigation and control, loss identification and reporting in accordance relevant internal policies.
- To minimize credit related risks to the Group and retention of high credit quality across the portfolio.

- Reviewing all credit proposals and ensuring they are completed on time and to the highest standard. Ensuring that any adverse changes in credit are identified, analyzed, reported and mitigated at an early stage and that information on clients is current. Ensuring that all exception reports are followed up on, and internal and external auditors’ recommendation s are complied with.
- To maintain strong awareness of competitive, economic, political and regulatory environments affecting the Division’s portfolio.
Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications (For the role – not the role holder. Minimum requirements of the role.)
- Experience in managing global relationships with Japanese corporates, expanding overseas business
- Strong understanding of Japanease Multinational Companies business environment
- Broad range of knowledge of industry sectors
- Experience of structured banking transactions and coordination of business/flows across geographies
- Excellent knowledge of the Bank’s structures, products and services
- Proven ability to work effectively with colleagues throughout the Group / Network
- Self motivated and have a grwoth mindset
- Experience in environments requiring strong analytical skills and understanding of key financial information and data
- Strong knowledge and perspective to understand external environment, including economy, regulation, politics, competitor and market
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in both English and Japanese
