Functional Description
HSBC Corporate and Institutional Banking is a markets-led, financing-focused business providing investment and financial solutions to corporate and institutional clients globally.
What differentiates HSBC is our international network. Global Network Banking (“GNB”) is at the heart of this proposition, providing relationship coverage to multinational clients and connecting them with HSBC’s capabilities across markets. Our sector-focused Relationship Managers act as a single coverage point, combining deep local knowledge with HSBC’s global network and product expertise to support clients’ international financial needs.
Role Purpose
The Associate Director, Team Lead – Global Network Banking is responsible for leading a team of Relationship Managers covering a portfolio of multinational corporate clients in Taiwan.
The role has dual accountability for business leadership and people leadership: driving sustainable revenue growth and client acquisition, deepening strategic relationships with priority clients, maintaining strong risk and control standards, and developing a high-performing team.
The Team Lead will work closely with Global Relationship Bankers, Regional Account Managers, product partners and colleagues across HSBC’s international network to originate and execute cross-border opportunities and deliver the full capabilities of HSBC to clients.
Principal Responsibilities
Client & Business Leadership
- Lead the team in developing and executing client strategies for a portfolio of multinational and priority GNB clients.
- Build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders, including CFOs, Treasurers and other key decision-makers.
- Drive sustainable revenue growth through deeper client penetration, increased wallet share, new client acquisition and disciplined pipeline conversion.
- Identify and originate opportunities across financing, Global Payments Solutions, Global Trade Solutions, Global Markets and other relevant CIB capabilities.
- Champion HSBC’s international network by connecting Taiwan clients and opportunities with Global Relationship Bankers, Regional Account Managers and coverage teams across key corridors.
- Lead or support the origination and execution of complex, strategic and cross-border transactions.
Team Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, coach and develop Relationship Managers to build a high-performing, collaborative and client-centric team.
- Set clear priorities and ensure appropriate portfolio allocation, client coverage intensity and resource deployment.
- Provide coaching on client strategy, origination, credit, stakeholder management and leadership capabilities.
- Identify and develop talent, strengthen succession planning and create development opportunities for team members.
- Foster an inclusive culture that encourages collaboration, accountability, constructive challenge and continuous improvement.
Risk & Portfolio Management
- Maintain strong oversight of credit, financial crime, conduct, operational and reputational risks across the portfolio.
- Ensure high standards of client selection, credit discipline, KYC/CDD, portfolio monitoring and early identification of emerging risks.
- Balance commercial opportunities with appropriate risk-adjusted returns and disciplined use of the Bank’s capital and liquidity.
- Ensure activities are conducted in accordance with HSBC policies, regulatory requirements and internal control standards.
Stakeholder & Network Management
- Build strong partnerships with product teams, Risk, Credit, Client Services and other functions to deliver seamless solutions and client experience.
- Act as a senior representative of GNB Taiwan in regional and global client discussions and internal forums.
- Promote collaboration across geographies and businesses to maximize HSBC’s network advantage.
- Contribute to the broader GNB Taiwan strategy, business planning and management agenda.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Significant experience in Corporate Banking, Global Banking or Relationship Management, preferably covering multinational or large corporate clients.
- Proven track record in originating and growing complex corporate relationships and delivering sustainable revenue growth.

- Strong credit assessment, risk management and commercial judgment.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with experience in coaching, developing and motivating high-performing teams.
- Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate business priorities into clear client and team actions.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to operate effectively across countries, businesses and functions within a global organization.
- Strong executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to engage credibly with senior client executives and internal stakeholders.
