We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Vice President, Business Management and Cost Optimization.

 

Role Purpose:

In this role you will be primarily responsible for managing IWPB Financials, focusing on managing costs, improving cost transparency, and helping stakeholders make informed decisions through accurate reporting, analysis, and disciplined financial control. This includes oversight into HBAP subsidiary’s HSBC Wealth P&L.  You will also support the IWPB VP, Incentives and P&L forecasting in overall IWPB Finance & non-financial metrics: P&L (revenue/costs/ECLs), Balance Sheet, Incentives management, and other business KPIs, as necessary. 

As a trusted business partner and enabler for commercial growth, you will be the Subject Matter Expert finance-related enquiries, and support in liaising with country/regional Finance team for more complex concerns. 

Impact on the Business / Function:

  • Cost tracking & reporting: Maintain regular cost reports (actuals vs budget/forecast), including run-rate analysis and variance commentary.
  • Month-end close activities (accruals, prepayments, cost allocations, journal support) and ensure timely, accurate submissions.
  • Budgeting & forecasting: Support annual budget and periodic forecast cycles; consolidate inputs, validate assumptions, and highlight risks/opportunities.
  • Cost optimisation: Identify cost-saving opportunities (e.g., vendor rationalisation, demand management, unit cost trends) and track benefits realisation.

Customers / Stakeholders:

  • Stakeholder partnering: Work with budget owners to understand drivers, explain variances, and improve cost discipline and planning accuracy.
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with local/global stakeholders to secure support on IWPB business financials (analysis, guidance & recommendations)
  • Becoming a trusted business partner and enabler for commercial growth by proactively engaging and supporting the business on key topics of concern and opportunities.
  • Proactively work with local/regional stakeholders to achieve business and project targets, ensuring both opportunities and risks are highlighted for holistic assessment of the activities to be undertaken.

Leadership & Teamwork:

  • Work closely with business stakeholders, notably local/regional FIN, and IWPB teams, to support business growth
  • Interact with executives across locally/globally on all finance-related matters with focus on cost, for HSBC Philippines
  • Responsible for co-ordination/preparation of financial reports / monthly/annual forecasts and other governance reporting requirements
  • IWPB’s financial SME to support projects and ad hoc initiatives.

Operational Effectiveness & Control:

  • Cost control & governance: Help monitor spend against approvals, purchase orders, and contracts; flag exceptions and support adherence to financial controls.
  • Data & insights: Build and maintain dashboards and MI packs; improve data quality and automate recurring reporting where possible.
  • Documentation: Maintain clear audit trails for key numbers, assumptions, and reconciliations; support internal/external audit requests as needed.
  • Work with rest of WPB & finance team to improve the financial and regulatory reporting process, with a focus on strengthening the overall control environment.

 

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications:

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or related fields. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license an advantage.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in finance and business management.   
  • Proven and progressive experience within financial services, with extensive experience of Balance Sheet & P&L management.
  • Strong managerial, planning, analytical, communications, decision-making, lateral thinking, influencing, interpersonal and project management skills.
  • Evidence of proactively working and communicating effectively with multiple local and global stakeholders across various business lines and within different levels of seniority, and working in a team-oriented environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of the organization and its products, processes and pertinent regulations affecting their delivery.
  • Able to work at pace, with competing and challenging priorities / circumstances, and able to lead delivery of good business and customer outcomes.

 

Candidate with less relevant experience or skills may be offered a lower Global Career Band level than stated above.
