We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of VP Retail Credit Risk Appetite, Reporting and Strategy
Role Purpose
The role is responsible for the design and delivery of analytics and risk assessment MI of the retail lending portfolios, with the underlying goal of optimizing profitability and asset quality across the credit cycle. He/ she must possess an adept knowledge of the different lending products and will be challenged to drive the development of analytics and performance monitoring KPIs that are timely, relevant, and are shaped to allow for enhanced senior management decision-making. Such information will serve as the main feedback mechanism for all risk-related processes and criteria set throughout the credit risk management cycle -- from acquisition through account management, collections and recoveries.
In addition, the jobholder is expected to work closely with senior stakeholders across Risk, Business and Finance to shape strategic planning, strengthen monitoring of external + internal conditions, and contribute to stress testing activities that aligns to HSBC's risk appetite and regulatory expectations.
Principal Accountabilities
- Deliver accurate, relevant and timely risk MI across Retail lending products to monitor asset quality and optimise profitability throughout the credit cycle.
- Develop and apply decisioning analytics to strengthen risk strategies, factoring in current and forward-looking economic, industry and regulatory trends.
- Steer the development and maintenance of key risk strategy documentation, tracking performance against risk appetite and supporting governance.
- Act as the local lead for the Retail Risk stress testing models, partnering with Regional Risk on appropriate parameters, triggers and caps.
- Proactively monitor external developments (economic, regulatory, competitive) and provide clear updates to Senior Risk Management.
- Design and maintain risk databases and support processing/system enhancements to improve data quality and insight.
- Present analysis and recommendations to stakeholders and senior management (including CRCO, Head of IWPB and CEO) and regional counterparts.
- Lead and develop the Risk Reporting team while driving automation, strong controls and effective operational risk management.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills, lateral thinking and the ability to translate complex data into practical recommendations
- Confident communicator, able to influence and present effectively to senior stakeholders and regional counterparts
- Relevant experience in credit/risk, portfolio analytics, reporting or banking/financial services.
- Preferably with experience in Cards/Loans operations and data systems
