  • Sustainability teams lead the bank’s work to support sustainable growth in a global economy, including an ambitious plan to prioritise financing that supports the transition to net zero.
  • Group External Communications teams – including colleagues from Media Relations, ESG Communications and Group Reputation – deliver communication strategies that support HSBC’s strategic objectives, protect our reputation and build trust among our stakeholders.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Chief Financial Officer, Philippines

 

The Chief Financial Officer position is accountable for all aspects of Finance as they relate to HSBC in Philippines. The role holder reports to Country CEO, and CFO CIB Asia and Middle East.

Responsibilities:

  • The job-holder's role includes but is not limited to overall leadership and governance of all Finance related matters including financial reporting, Local Regulatory Reporting for Finance, Asset, Liability and Capital Management including planning for liquidity, funding and capital, Management information and Tax Compliance to enable management and stakeholders to make appropriate decisions.  
  • Responsible for financial planning and the effective tracking of performance metrics as well as the design and implementation of controls designed to preserve the integrity of the balance sheet and the accurate reporting of financial results. 
  • As a member of OPCO, the jobholder is required to provide strategic direction and drive the priorities of HSBC Philippines by providing insights and analysis required and with strong sense of market developments. As chair of ALCO, the jobholder is responsible for decisions taken at ALCO to drive the liquidity, funding or capital framework as per Group requirements
  • Responsible for overall performance of Finance operation of HSBC Philippines. This will include regulatory reporting, tax compliance, liaison with auditors and regulators, and monitoring the regulatory capital utilization to ensure compliance of local regulations with respect to Finance.
  • In addition, the function will manage general financial reporting related to book closing; daily ledger controls and reconciliation; regular submission of financials to group.
  • To review and integrate Finance processes and ensure smooth functioning of Finance teams between Onshore, GFOC and near-shore teams.
  • The function will have to advise business on potential financial and regulatory impacts for new products or business initiatives raised.
  • Entity management of the wider Finance team that covers a team of 100 Product Controllers supporting Asia Pacific.
  • Establish and maintain a robust financial control framework for compliance with regulations and group policy
  • Partner with the business and OPCO for all aspects of financial planning, reporting and control
  • Establish and subsequent oversight of the preparation of detailed financial analysis and analytical review for regular financial reporting and business management.
  • Oversight Finance teams to deliver their key outputs to external stakeholders – e.g., Statutory audit, local regulatory returns
  • Drive integrity of reporting and Finance as a control function for the bank Plan and closely monitor regulatory capital sufficiency and escalate to stakeholders whenever required.

 

Leadership & Teamwork 

  • Support country leadership to meet Business performance including product / business initiatives, cost optimization, RWA / Capital optimisation
  • Hire and develop a team of finance professionals as required to support the bank and the securities entities
  • Building relationships with business partners
  • Guide, Plan and Oversee work performed by team members
  • Provide clear succession and back-up plans for the Fin team
  • Provide and develop a conducive working environment that promotes diversity, self-development and teamwork and nurture Future Skills including active adoption of technology incl Cloud, Qlik, Python etc.

 

Requirements

  • Possession of all other necessary qualifications and experience to perform the above duties
  • Relevant professional qualifications are required, accountancy qualifications would be a strong advantage
  • Knowledge of financing products in Global Banking & Markets and Securities businesses
  • Solid experience of financial and regulatory reporting
  • Well-organized and detail-orientated
  • Experience in working in high performance environment and culture to drive integrity and independence of Finance function
  • Experience of reporting under multiple accounting environments would be a plus
