We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as a Branch Operations Officer – BGC Branch.
In this role you will:
- Ensure that counters are fully manned during banking hours. Validates all vouchers posted at the counter. Approves transactions within set limits. Escorts clients with large transactions to the Head Teller for counting. Always ensures a high standard of customer service at the counter.
- Open Easy Pay machine envelopes and ensures that cash and cheques tally with amount written by customers; processes back-end functions for Easy Pay payments and reporting of statistics. Handles queries on credit card payments made thru Easy Pay machine. Ensures Easy Pay machines (frontend) are in good condition
- Promote the utilisation of other available delivery channels such as Phone Banking, Internet Banking, Easy Pay Machines and ATM machines, whenever appropriate, to minimise traffic in the banking hall. Actively cross-sells all Bank and Group products and services to existing clients to help in the achievement of AOP targets by making referrals to ADVANCE and HPR for relationship building; to do so, keeps abreast with products, services, and promos of the bank to effectively match client needs with available offerings. Attends to queries, concerns of clients, and ensures that a high level of customer service is always provided.
- Process departmental balancing on a rotation basis. Relieves other staff when requested
- Adhere to regulatory compliance standards and bank policies and procedures. Safeguard the bank from potential losses by strictly adhering to audit recommendations and BIM requirements. Manages operational risk, including its identification, assessment, mitigation and control, loss identification and reporting.
- Implement the Group Compliance policy locally by managing compliance risk in liaison with the Head of Group Compliance, Regional Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer, ensuring adequate compliance resources are in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimising relations with regulators.
- Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
- Maintains a suitably trained staff resource at levels appropriate for the needs of the branch, by agreeing objectives for all direct reports and conducting effective 1:1s and performance reviews and by coaching less experienced members of staff. She/He is also authorized to sign and serve Show Cause Memos, Disposition Memos to her/his staff. She/He also ensures that all her staff take the necessary courses to equip them with their work.
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
- Understanding of IWPB products and services
- Knowledgeable on HUB / SFE / CRMS / Evolve / Aperta and other branch systems
- Should attend the ff courses: signature verification, counterfeit detection (PHP and FCY)
- Should be aware of foreign exchange and related regulations
- Knowledge and application of branch processes and guidelines
- Customer driven and with a commitment to service excellence
