Global Risk & Compliance is a thriving expert Risk Management function supporting HSBC globally across all aspects of Risk Management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, operational, credit, compliance, regulatory, market and reputational risks. All parts of the Global Risk & Compliance function use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see as emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth. 

We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join the International Wealth and Personal Banking Risk (IWPB Risk) team in the role of Portfolio Risk Analyst, Secured on a 2 Year Fixed Term Contract. The IWPB Risk Team is responsible for the development and management of HSBC’s Risk Management framework across all Wealth and Personal Banking products, supporting the business and ensuring risk strategies are focussed on minimising losses across the full credit lifecycle of our customers. This role is specific to the portfolio Risk Management of Mortgages in Australia. 

The production of high-quality detailed portfolio information is an essential function of the WPB Risk Team and therefore strong numerical understanding, written language and attention to detail is essential for this role. 

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Production and ongoing review of IWPB Risk Management Information for the IWPB product, ensuring all reports are produced error free and within agreed deadlines.  
  • Assist in the Portfolio management of the HBAU Mortgage book providing risk and profitability related analytics.
  • Production of strategy and credit scoring tracking for the Mortgage Portfolio ensuring strategies support the risk/reward trade off with the emphasis on maximising customer profitability.
  • Support the IWPB Mortgage Portfolio reporting requirements for regulators.
  • Assist with the ongoing review and improvement of the credit policy framework for mortgage lending and the implementation and testing of credit strategy changes.
  • Liaise with teams across the business such as Finance, Product and Collections on projects, campaigns, capital management, process changes and regulatory/compliance changes.
  • Assist in the tracking of the Australian housing market and review of industry indicators



To be successful in the role you will need: 

  • Tertiary qualifications
  • Excellent communication, organisation and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail with aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Able to work independently and contribute as a team player
  • Ability and desire to self-manage knowledge and skillset building
  • Strong working knowledge of SAS/SQL, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) will be an added advantage


Preference will be given to candidates who hold Australian PR/Citizenship or New Zealand Citizenship, or who can demonstrate current unrestricted work rights in Australia without limitations.
