HSBC Securities Services offers a range of fund administration, global custody, sub-custody and clearing services. HSBC is a leading asset servicing provider in Asia and one of the largest custodians and administrators in the Asia Pacific region.

 

The Country Head of Securities Services, Australia and New Zealand is responsible for all facets of Securities Services business across both countries, including ownership and driving of the business agenda aligning Securities Services strategy and ambitions with the wider priorities of the country. 

 

The role holder must be a matrix navigator who collaborates, consults and influences a host of on-shore and off-shore stakeholders ranging from Securities Services sectors (such as sales, client management, product, commercial management), functions and country management. The ability to engage, influence, disrupt, opine and drive forward the country market, industry, regulatory and client dynamic is central to this role.

 

Principal Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

 

  • Securities Services Country Strategy – Owning, defining and periodically refreshing the Country Strategy, in conjunction with Sector, Product, Securities Services strategy, relevant Securities Services functions and country stakeholders

 

  • Business Performance – Leading the revenue and cost management discipline for the country; Agreeing targets, in collaboration and alignment with Sector, Securities Services functions and country management.

 

  • Client Development and Marketing – In collaboration with Product, formalising the marketing / client relationship / visitation / market advocacy plans for the year, ensuring alignment with country coverage teams. Developing and maintaining relationships with key senior individuals in relevant industry bodies, client and potential client organisation, competitor organisations, regulators and market participants.

 

  • People and Culture – Owning, driving and influencing the people agenda for all Securities Services staff in the country, including performance culture, talent management, diversity and inclusion and risk management speak up culture.

 

  • Product Management – In sync with local developments / trends and client feedback, collaborating with Sector and Product to define and agreeing the Product and Technology Roadmap for the country, including new growth and new client segments, taking accountability for execution of product initiatives.

 

  • Operational Excellence – In consultation with Operations and Sector, agreeing the Operational Efficiency initiatives including automation, risk mitigation, enhanced client experience and headcount. In collaboration with Regional Operations lead, ensure delivery of the agreed targets by the country Operations team

 

  • Risk and Conduct – Fostering a culture supporting high awareness and compliance with relevant internal and external rules and regulations. Own all financial and non-financial risks associated with the Securities Services business in the country, ensuring that local specific risks are adequately identified and managed.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Significant experience in leading and managing a Securities Services business or other relevant leadership experience.
  • Experience in all aspects of business management, including people development, client management, business planning, financials, marketing, and risk management.
  • Strong knowledge and awareness of Securities Services products, target client segments and linkages into other business lines across Corporate and Institutional Banking.
  • A collaborative approach to working in a matrix environment involving sector, global product heads, global functions and local country structures.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience at local and regional level.
  • Able to work in a pressurised environment, manage priorities and make a positive contribution as part of an effectively operating team.
  • Be a strategic and creative thinker with a growth mindset.
  • Strong leadership qualities of decision making and the ability to motivate a team of people.

 

Preference will be given to candidates who hold Australian PR/Citizenship or New Zealand Citizenship, or who can demonstrate current unrestricted work rights in Australia without limitations.
