Joining HSBC CIB as an Associate Director within our Global Network Banking team based in Sydney, your role as a Relationship Manager will be focused on developing and growing profitable long-term relationships with clients within a designated portfolio for both in country and cross-border business. In doing so you will establish a holistic understanding of clients’ needs, delivering value added propositions across all product lines and geographies to gain significant business and sustainable returns.
With HSBC’s Global Network Banking team, you will be joining a business that provides a gateway to HSBC’s global network, providing the opportunity to build strong relationships with our international stakeholders and clients across key corridors of the US, United Kingdom, Europe, Asia Pacific and Middle East. This exposure provides the opportunity to further develop your career across a breadth of industries and products such as traditional credit and lending, infrastructure finance, working capital solutions and transactional banking, while building a strong international network.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Co-ordinating profitable origination and execution of activities across the spectrum of products/services (including DCM, Treasury Risk Management, LAF, Syndicated Finance, HIF and working capital support).
- Identifying event driven opportunities on an opportunistic basis, bringing in sector/country expertise as appropriate.
- Growing HSBC’s share of client wallet through GPS, GM and GTS involving product specialists to ensure product capabilities are in line with client/sector requirements.
- Driving achievement against targets for revenue generation, product alignment, customer satisfaction and cost containment.
- Maintaining “Trusted Advisor” relationships at key decision maker level for assigned clients with inbound multinational companies.
- Combining client relationship management with strong risk assessment and management capabilities ensuring credit quality and requisite returns.
- Working closely with product partners to maximise increased product penetration.
- Assisting in the promotion, management, training, development and assessment of all members of the team within assigned area.
- Building the value proposition and reputation of the franchise in the marketplace.
- Understanding and ensuring compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures with a focus on Global Standards including conduct, AML & Sanctions.
- Maintaining HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
- Ensuring on-going development and process improvement.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Proven experience as a Relationship Manager in Corporate & Institutional Banking, managing a portfolio of clients and generating business across a full range of products.
- Strong track record of building and developing long term client relationships including at key decision maker level.
- Excellent portfolio management skills developed over many years in relationship management roles.
- A good knowledge of HSBC Group and products, and a strong network of contacts across all business areas.
- A good record of proactively developing and originating client solutions, consistently exceeding client expectations through superior customer service.
- In-depth analytical skills with a strong commercial orientation and focus on credit quality.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and autonomously.
- Good understanding of risk management and risk mitigation.
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
Preference will be given to candidates who hold Australian PR/Citizenship or New Zealand Citizenship, or who can demonstrate current unrestricted work rights in Australia without limitations.
