Why HSBC

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world. Guided by our purpose of opening up a world of opportunity, our ambition is to become the world’s most trusted bank globally, putting customers at the heart of everything we do.

The Opportunity

As a Business Development Manager, Mortgages - Intermediary Partnerships, you’ll develop and grow key relationships with external mortgage intermediary partners across Hertfordshire and surrounding areas. This role focuses on generating mortgage lending opportunities while delivering against operational plans and acquisition forecasts. You’ll work closely with intermediaries in person and remotely while partnering with internal teams across Distribution and Secured Lending. You’ll also provide market feedback that helps shape the mortgage intermediary proposition on a continuous basis. Success means growing market share at firm and regional level while maintaining strong service standards and effective risk management. You’ll need to commute daily across the territory and travel within the region for team meetings twice a month.

What you'll be doing

  • Build deep long-term relationships with mortgage intermediaries across the territory using face-to-face telephony and online engagement
  • Identify opportunities to develop business and increase market share by interpreting MI and performance data at firm and regional level
  • Establish relationships across intermediary firms including Admin Brokers Sales Managers and MDs
  • Support the Corporate Account Team by coordinating focused activities with networks including campaigns and presentations at events and online
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to share insights and feedback that continuously improves the intermediary proposition
  • Deliver a strong customer experience and service level across intermediary partnerships
  • Influence internal and external stakeholders to deliver mortgage acquisition forecasts while managing multiple relationships at different levels
  • Monitor sales credit quality and risk KPIs and maintain key controls over TPMI activity in line with guidance and regulation

What we're looking for

  • Bring experience as a Business Development Manager in the UK Intermediary Mortgage Market or experience in mortgage-related roles (essential)
  • Demonstrate success in identifying and developing new business opportunities including influencing and negotiating with stakeholders (essential)
  • Commit to the travel required including daily commuting across the territory and twice-monthly regional travel for team meetings
  • Show a proven track record of delivering excellent customer service and improving service through new ideas
  • Apply experience using MI and data to set and progress business performance goals
  • Present clearly and credibly to small and medium sized groups
  • Work effectively independently and alongside colleagues to support regional and channel performance
  • Communicate strongly in writing and verbally including influencing audiences through persuasive presentations
  • Operate within financial services regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements and apply effective conduct and risk management (essential)

Growing our Intermediary Channel

This role offers the chance to build on HSBC’s Mortgage Intermediaries proposition and support the continued growth of the channel’s brand and market reach. You’ll have the scope to shape relationships that create sustainable mortgage lending opportunities and stronger outcomes for customers. If you’ve built trusted partnerships in the mortgage market and want a role with clear commercial impact we’d welcome your application. You’ll work across a broad stakeholder network and see the direct results of your work through firm-level and regional growth.
