Job description
If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or an exciting new direction, we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.
We’re one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.
We’re currently seeking an experienced professional to join the Trust & Fiduciary Services Channel Islands (TFS CI) Risk and Control team, in the role of Senior Analyst, Continuous Monitoring.
You will act as an independent expert, undertaking first line of defence assurance testing to confirm our business is operating in line with all relevant laws, regulations, and Group standards. You’ll dive deep into processes and procedures, conduct thematic reviews, and even take part in stress testing exercises, working with colleagues from other group Private Bank and TFS and teams. Whether your focus is local or global, you’ll play a key part in making sure our controls are robust, effective, and future-ready, whilst helping to cultivate and drive a positive risk culture.
This key role will necessitate working closely with senior risk and control owners to support them in their monitoring of key controls and determination of control effectiveness.
As an HSBC employee in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man (CIIOM) you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all employees, enhanced parental and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a non-contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.
In this role you will:
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with senior stakeholders, staying up to date with business, regulatory, and industry changes
- Review of risks and key controls through end-to-end process walkthroughs, events or thematic reviews, data-driven reviews or issue read across, and evidence reviews
- Provide oversight of appropriate controls requiring Risk Control Assessments (RCAs) and Continuous Monitoring Assessments through Helios with Risk and control monitoring, control assurance, country risk assessments, risk logging/tracking, incident reporting and Management Information
- Participate in the development and implementation of future-fit risk management frameworks and validate the design and operating effectiveness of key controls through inspection, inquiry, observation, sampling, re-performance and recalculation
- Track and follow up on actions from continuous monitoring and review work, escalating issues when needed and reporting progress to the Chief Control Officer.
- Coordinate and possess oversight of training sessions to colleagues in the business where needed
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Proven background of working at this level in relevant environments such as Risk, Audit, Assurance, Compliance and/or Governance
- Excellent attention to detail, experience delivering gap analysis
- Experience contributing to the monitoring and implementation of policies, governance frameworks, procedures, practices and standards to ensure quality, effective risk management and regulatory compliance
- Strong written and spoken communication skills with experience of successfully influencing stakeholders, via compelling, data-led discussion and presentation.
- Independent, pro-active, and flexible in your way of working
- Discretion, as you’ll have access to sensitive information
