If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or an exciting new direction, we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

We’re one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We’re currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Rights of Individual Manager

Rights of Individual Manager will play a key role in ensuring HSBC operates to the highest compliance and data privacy standards across CIIOM, meeting local Island laws and regulations and aligning with Global Standards Manuals and Functional Instruction Manuals (FIMs).

The role is accountable for end-to-end oversight of Rights of Individuals requests, collating, reviewing, protecting and producing accurate data packs within agreed SLAs, while designing and embedding robust processes and controls to monitor effectiveness and mitigate risk. Working closely with the Data Protection Officer, Legal and key stakeholders, you’ll act as the central point of contact for complex cases (including Commissioner enquiries), maintain strong attention to detail to avoid inappropriate disclosures (e.g. where Financial Crime Risk considerations apply), and provide entity level control ownership and SME support. You’ll also help drive strategic improvements to the Rights of Individuals operating model, including oversight of the offshore GSC fulfilment team.

As an HSBC employee in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man (CIIOM) you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all employees, enhanced parental and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a non-contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role you’ll:

  • To manage the processing and exercising of Individuals under each Islands version of their Data Protection Laws, this includes the end to end journey for customer cases
  • Provide tailored case management for stakeholders by liaising with relevant Business/Function lines and the Data Subject.
  • Handle complex queries and apply Island-specific legislative interpretation, seeking support from Legal and 2LoD where required.
  • Control ownership for Rights of Individual control and advise Risk Owner on the control effectiveness, KCIs, impacts and risks related to Rights of Individuals Data Privacy Controls
  • Ownership and escalation to Head of COO, Head of Risk and Head of Legal for ongoing commissioner complaints with all outcomes, capturing any necessary plans of action/roadmap.
  • Oversight for any investigations required which we received from any Island Commissioner following a customer complaint
  • Produce timely, accurate management information to support governance, risk decisions and stakeholder reporting.
  • Act as an escalation point for colleagues, coaching, sharing knowledge and upskilling teams on a case by case basis.
  • Represent CIIOM in regional/group forums from a data privacy perspective.
  • Provide indirect management/oversight of the offshore GSC fulfilment team to ensure quality, control adherence and SLA performance.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Strong understanding of data privacy principles and Rights of Individuals obligations
  • Demonstrable experience in operational risk, controls, governance and SLA-driven casework within a regulated environment.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including clear and customer-appropriate correspondence.
  • Highly organised, calm under pressure, and able to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines objectively.
  • A proactive risk mindset with strong attention to detail and confidence escalating issues appropriately.
