Role context

As Head of Trust & Fiduciary Services, Jersey, you’ll be responsible for the effective operation, governance, and performance of the Jersey trust company business, reporting functionally to the Global Head of Trust and Fiduciary Services. You’ll operate within the fiduciary nature of trust services while leveraging wider bank capabilities appropriately.

 

 

Accountabilities

  • Set and deliver the strategy for the Jersey trust business, ensuring growth is sustainable and aligned to wider business priorities.
  • Act as the accountable executive and senior regulatory contact with the Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC); ensure the legal entity is appropriately governed and controlled.
  • Lead talent, performance, succession planning and capability uplift; role model inclusive leadership and HSBC values.
  • Deliver financial targets while maintaining risk appetite, conduct and suitability standards.
  • Drive efficiency and modernisation through outsourcing, automation and responsible adoption of AI, partnering with the Trust & Fiduciary Services COO.
  • Strengthen collaboration and referrals across the bank where appropriate, while keeping fiduciary duties paramount.
  • Ensure trust administration meets legal, regulatory and HSBC Group policy requirements; foster a strong risk and compliance culture.
  • Maintain strong financial crime compliance across onboarding, monitoring, periodic review and exit, including oversight of asset injections and payments.
  • Act as senior sponsor for key client relationships and spokesperson for trust and fiduciary matters when required.
  • Sponsor major transformation and regulatory initiatives impacting the Jersey trust business.

 

 

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Bring proven senior leadership experience in trust and fiduciary services within a regulated environment (ideally a bank-owned trust company).
  • Demonstrate strong fiduciary judgement, including trustee duties, conflicts management, and disciplined decision-making/documentation in complex structures.
  • Have established regulatory credibility, with experience engaging regulators as a senior accountable executive and leading legal entity governance and control.
  • Show strong working knowledge of financial crime, AML, sanctions, and ongoing due diligence expectations in fiduciary services.
  • Evidence a track record of delivering sustainable growth in a high-reputation specialist business while balancing cost, resources, and risk appetite.
  • Bring experience improving operating models through outsourcing, automation, and responsible use of data/AI, with robust controls.
  • Be a recognised people leader—strong in performance management, talent development, succession planning, and building inclusive, high-performing teams.
  • Influence effectively across a global bank, enabling collaboration and referrals while operating within fiduciary boundaries.
  • Be credible with ultra-high-net-worth clients and intermediaries, able to sponsor key relationships and represent the business externally.
