Vice President, Distribution Governance and Excellence - HSBC Life
Singapore, 01, SG, 117439
Job description
Some careers have more impact than others.
If you’re looking for a career where you can make a real impression, join HSBC and discover how valued you’ll be. Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.
We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Vice President, Distribution Governance and Excellence.
In this role you will:
- Deliver the ICCSC framework end-to-end across insurance distribution, translating requirements into clear governance artefacts (papers, MI, control evidence) and ensuring consistent implementation.
- Own the delivery plan and reporting (milestones, progress updates), proactively escalating risks/slippage with practical remediation actions.
- Coordinate cross-functional inputs from agency leadership, servicing, complaints, and risk/control owners to align approach and execution.
- Run the monthly Distribution Risk Forum—set agenda, produce packs, capture minutes, manage actions, and maintain the decision log.
- Provide effective distribution risk oversight by driving action ownership and closure, ensuring issues are resolved within agreed timelines.
- Lead governance and tracking for the Agency Culture Plan, embedding it into day-to-day behaviours through partnership with leadership, recruitment, training, and compliance/risk.
- Define and monitor culture and conduct indicators (customer outcomes, complaint themes, training completion, breaches, frontline feedback) and use insights to steer interventions.
- Own key governance processes for complaints and digital activity: consequence management for servicing-related complaints (root cause analysis, repeat issue monitoring, sustained fixes) and governance for agency-originated digital postings (approvals, record-keeping, monitoring), while representing Governance in key FLoD forums with constructive challenge and alignment to risk appetite/customer outcomes.
To be successful you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Business, Finance, Risk Management, Law, Economics, or a related discipline
- Strong experience in governance, risk management, conduct, controls, or operational risk within financial services (insurance distribution experience strongly preferred); Demonstrable experience running governance forums/committees: agenda setting, MI, minutes, action tracking, and escalation.
- Strong understanding of distribution risk drivers (customer outcomes, complaints, sales practices, channel oversight).
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and challenge constructively across senior and frontline teams.
- Strong analytical skills: ability to interpret MI, identify themes, and drive root-cause actions.
- High attention to detail with strong documentation and audit-ready discipline.
