We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Vice President, Business Risk and Control Management.

 

In this role you will:

  • Raising awareness and understanding of risks, controls and risk management. Enforcing robust risk governance and ensuring stakeholders have visibility of key risks and remediation activity. Developing effective risk indicators to manage Operational Risk profile
  • Conducting high quality and efficient reviews of control performance, and supporting control remediation where required. Overseeing BAU Risk programmes and implementing ad hoc Group and Local risk initiatives
  • Coordinate activities across HSBC Life to drive these objectives and implement a consistent and effective approach to end-to-end risk management.  The VP will have direct responsibility for non-financial risk within Insurance
  • Responsible to ensure appropriate risk reporting and governance is embedded within the Insurance business, and will be required to write papers for use of regulators, auditors and external bodies as required
  • Executing the Group Insurance risk and control strategy to enhance risk and control management locally. Providing control expertise and opining on the end-to-end health of the control environment
  • Leading the implementation of Group Risk policies and frameworks, such as the Operational Risk Transformation Programme. Managing internal and external audit requirements for Insurance
  • Increasing risk and control awareness and capability within the Insurance business leadership teams.  Respond to triggers arising from external events, internal events or issues by identifying and closing gaps

To be successful you will need:

  • Extensive experience in global risk management, working across cultures and matrix organisations
  • Strong subject matter expertise in Risk & Control, with comprehensive knowledge of external risk, regulatory, and competitive environments
  • Proven ability to distil complex information into clear, actionable recommendations and present issues confidently using simple language
  • Outstanding relationship management, collaboration, and influencing skills, including positive interactions with senior executives and diverse stakeholders
  • Skilled at prioritising workloads, delegating effectively, and delivering high-quality outputs in fast-paced, multi-business environments
  • Demonstrated capability in building and leading high-performing, globally distributed teams, with commitment to personal and professional development
