We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a VP, Risk and Controls - Retail Banking & Wealth.
In this role you will:
- Lead QC analysts, ensure checks meet agreed SLAs, report quality-score MI to Business Heads and Regional BFCR, and provide monthly updates at Risk and AO Forums.
- Tabulate quarterly QC results and provide RM scorecard ratings; share findings with onshore and offshore teams each quarter.
- Develop and implement risk and control processes with Risk Stewards (2LoD), aligned with regulatory requirements, internal standards and the Group Operational Risk Management Framework.
- Enable clear and consistent articulation of the business risk profile, including key-control design, operating effectiveness, health, monitoring plans, reporting and oversight.
- Identify, assess and escalate control weaknesses, anomalies, emerging and aggregated risks that may breach tolerance; perform RCA scoping, refresh assessments and support risk appetite and governance activities.
- Support end-to-end management of IWPB Important Business Services (IBS), including IBS assessments, asset-level continuity planning, testing, vulnerability follow-up, timely completion and guidance to Business Service Owners.
- Represent IWPB at Operational Resilience forums, coordinate IBS inputs and collaborate with Incident Owners to ensure incidents are logged and reported within SLA; review and challenge root causes and remediation actions.
- Identify thematic issues through back-book reviews, coordinate effective action plans with business units, and ensure regulatory reporting, including PDPC submissions, meets required standards and deadlines.
To be successful you will need:
- Leadership experience across front-line and risk roles, with strong AML/KYC and operational resilience knowledge.
- Proven problem-solving skills, applying lateral thinking and pragmatic solutions.
- Strong understanding of IWPB products, services and business operations.
- Excellent risk acumen, with the ability to identify issues and deliver improvement plans.
- Confident communicator and influencer who can engage senior stakeholders and constructively challenge the status quo.
- Bachelor’s degree, 5+ years’ experience in risk and controls; AML qualifications such as ICA Diploma, ACAMS or IBF are advantageous.
