We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a VP, Retail Product Governance and Process.
In this role you will:
- Implement, maintain and continuously improve assigned Retail Product processes and their interactions with adjacent processes
- Define/design processes, including mapping links, dependencies, controls and hand-offs across teams
- Assess end-to-end (upstream/downstream) impacts of process changes to meet local/Group regulatory and business requirements
- Ensure regulatory changes (local and global) are interpreted correctly and embedded into WPB Retail Product processes in consultation with stakeholders and risk stewards
- Maintain the central process depository for Retail Products, ensuring version control, approvals, and a clear audit trail
- Drive process improvements based on identified risks, control gaps, client impact and operational opportunities
- Resolve issues, prevent recurrence, and escalate material risks/issues to the Head of Retail Product Governance, Control & Process as appropriate
- Ensure adherence to HSBC policies, procedures and control requirements; raise concerns promptly via agreed escalation routes
- Provide oversight to ensure Retail Product process design and delivery align with compliance and business risk requirements
- Identify, document and escalate product-related control incidents and breaches
- Analyse incidents by root cause and control deficiencies; track distribution and trends
- Identify common themes and partner with stakeholders to implement appropriate control interventions
- Track and drive closure of remedial actions within agreed timelines; evidence completion for governance and audit purposes
- Role-model HSBC values and contribute to a collaborative, inclusive working environment
- Take responsibility for performance expectations, mandatory training completion and ongoing development
- Share knowledge and good practice to strengthen team capability and consistency across Retail Products
To be successful you will need:
- Experience in retail banking (product, governance, operations, risk/control, or process management)
- Core skills: Strong critical thinking and analytical capability; able to assess end-to-end impacts and identify control implications
- Stakeholder management: Proven ability to influence and coordinate across multiple functions and senior stakeholders
- Governance discipline: Strong documentation, audit trail, and process control mindset; comfortable working with regulatory change and risk stewards
- Communication: Clear, structured communication and ability to translate regulatory/business requirements into practical process outcomes
