We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a VP, Lending Solutions and Product Management
In this role you will:
Product strategy & proposition ownership
- Define target segments, customer needs, and value proposition; identify where the product wins (and why customers should care).
- Own the product lifecycle: ideation, discovery, build, launch, optimisation, and where needed, migration/retirement.
- Translate business strategy into customer journeys and feature sets across origination, decisioning, fulfilment, servicing and collections.
Roadmap, delivery & Agile leadership
- Build and manage a prioritised backlog and roadmap; set quarterly objectives and outcomes with stakeholders.
- Write high-quality epics/features/user stories with clear acceptance criteria; ensure traceability from customer need to delivery.
- Partner with IT, Risk and Loan Operations to deliver scalable solutions (including credit decisioning rules, digital journeys, and servicing tools).
- Lead release planning, go/no-go readiness, post-implementation review, and benefits realisation.
Commercial and portfolio performance
- Manage key P&L levers within governance: pricing, fees, promotions, limits, channel mix and customer eligibility.
- Track performance and diagnose funnel and portfolio trends (applications → approvals → utilisation → repayment → attrition).
- Drive optimisation initiatives (e.g., policy/criteria tuning, limit management, pricing changes, journey conversion improvements, retention offers).
Risk, controls, compliance & conduct
- Ensure product design aligns with responsible lending principles and applicable regulation (affordability, transparency, fair treatment, complaints).
- Partner with Credit Risk to align credit policy, underwriting strategy, and collections capability to product goals.
- Work with Compliance/Legal to ensure customer communications and disclosures are clear and compliant.
- Build controls “by design” (audit trail, decision explainability where needed, monitoring, MI, and operational procedures).
Operational excellence & customer experience
- Optimise end-to-end processes to reduce cycle times, hand-offs and failure demand; improve straight-through processing where feasible.
- Define and monitor customer and operational KPIs (TAT, drop-off, defect rates, complaints, contact drivers, service levels).
- Use incident and complaint insights to drive root-cause fixes and prevent repeat issues.
Stakeholder management & governance
- Lead cross-functional forums across Technology, Data, Ops, Risk, Compliance, Marketing, Sales and Finance.
- Produce governance artefacts: product papers, change requests, business cases, risk assessments (as required), and exec updates.
- Manage third parties and internal dependencies (e.g., credit bureaus, decision-making platforms, servicing systems, digital channels).
To be successful you will need:
Product craft
- Strong product discovery and delivery capability: customer research, prioritisation frameworks, OKRs/outcome-based roadmaps.
- Excellent requirements writing; able to turn complex lending needs into buildable, testable solutions.
- Experience in leading Agile teams and working effectively with engineers and architects.
Lending domain expertise
- Solid understanding of the lending lifecycle (origination to collections) and how product changes affect customer outcomes and risk.
- Working knowledge of credit risk and fraud concepts (risk-based pricing, affordability, scorecards/rules, portfolio monitoring).
- Awareness of regulatory and conduct expectations for lending products in a regulated environment.
Data & commercial acumen
- Strong analytical skills; comfortable with funnel metrics, cohort analysis, portfolio performance and experiment measurement.
- Ability to evaluate trade-offs across margin, expected loss, capital/ROE considerations (where applicable), and cost-to-serve.
- Ability to build credible business cases and quantify benefits, costs, and risks.
Leadership & influence
- Confident communicator—clear writing and effective senior stakeholder management.
- Proven ability to align teams without direct authority; pragmatic, decisive and accountable.
- Comfortable handling ambiguity and making judgement calls with incomplete information.
Control mindset
- Practical understanding of operational risk, issue management and control design.
- Experience driving remediation and sustainable fixes following incidents, audit findings, or regulatory feedback.
Experience
- Min. 5-8 years of product management experience; lending experience strongly preferred.
- Track record delivering customer-facing journeys and/or underwriting/decisioning enhancements.
- Experience operating within formal governance and regulatory constraints.
