We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Specialist, Fin Operations Reinsurance

 

In this role you will:

  • Account handling: Manage queries, recoveries and all related correspondence for the assigned portfolio, including engagement with multiple channel partners.
  • Regulatory reporting: Produce MAS debtor ageing reports and calculate provisions for bad and doubtful debts.
  • Operational support: Enable efficient business operations and client servicing by responding to operational queries accurately and within agreed timelines.
  • Stakeholder management: Maintain regular communication with channel partners and coordinate actions across relevant departments within HSBC Life.
  • Payment processing (reinsurance): Raise PRF requisitions and review payment requests, including preparation of manual reinsurance payment vouchers via journals for FinOps to post manually.
  • Receipt processing (facultative reinsurance): Review facultative reinsurance receipts and prepare manual journal vouchers for FinOps manual posting.
  • Commission oversight: Review commission statement requirements and ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Statement of Account (SOA) management: Manually generate SOAs to monitor outstanding premiums and claims recoveries, using Power Apps for new bills due from reinsurers and supplementing with static SOA data from the legacy system for follow-up.
  • Ad hoc support: Handle ad hoc requests from the business and clients as required.
  • Run-off portfolio management: Manage the facultative reinsurance run-off portfolio in Power Apps, including reconciliation, account management and follow-up activities.
  • Cash management: Review and investigate unallocated cash items to support accurate allocation and reconciliation.
  • Write-off governance: Prepare and review write-off workfiles for approval by the Head of GI and CFO.
  • Process control: Review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and provide formal sign-off where required.
  • Management reporting: Prepare the facultative RI workfile for discussion and review in meetings with the GI team.

 

 

To be successful you will need:

  • Experience & qualifications: have experience in credit control and/or finance/audit, supported by a university degree or equivalent.
  • Credit control & collections capability: Strong understanding of end-to-end credit control processes, with a positive, change-oriented mindset and a proven ability to deliver effective debt collection outcomes.
  • Channel management: Demonstrated experience managing multiple distribution channels, including Brokers, Agencies, Agents, Financial Advisers (FA), Banca, and Direct.
  • Legacy and run-off expertise: Sound knowledge of legacy transactions, enabling effective contribution to run-off clean-up activities and knowledge bridging across historical processes.
  • Escalation handling: Strong problem-solving skills, with experience managing and resolving escalations within the insurance industry.
  • Adaptability & learning agility: Proactive learner who adapts quickly and performs well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Technical proficiency: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel capability considered essential.
  • Ownership & organisation: A self-starter who takes initiative independently, with strong planning and organisational skills.
  • Stakeholder communication: Effective interpersonal and presentation skills, able to communicate confidently with senior management and both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analytical approach & eligibility: Strong analytical capability and structured problem-solving; valid right to work in Singapore is required.
  • Candidates should demonstrate strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
