Our GCIO organisation plays a critical role for the bank. This team partners with businesses to build platforms, systems, and products that our customers use every day. We keep people’s money and data safe and are at the forefront of driving innovation for our businesses, customers, and colleagues

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Quantum Tech Programme Manager.

In this role you will:

  • Use Case Discovery and Shaping: Identify and develop new business use cases for the adoption of quantum technologies, working closely with research and development teams and internal business stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder and Ecosystem Management: Manage relationships with stakeholders across internal business teams, government bodies, industry partners and other ecosystem players to promote collaboration, trials and adoption of quantum technologies.
  • Programme Delivery and Lifecycle Oversight: Oversee the quantum initiative lifecycle from concept through PoC and into production, ensuring outcomes meet internal and external stakeholder needs and align with overall strategy.
  • Portfolio Governance and Reporting: Develop and manage the quantum technology project portfolio, including running a regular Steering Committee meeting, maintaining clear governance, and providing concise senior management updates on progress, risks, issues and dependencies.
  • Strategic Alignment and Value Realisation: Ensure the programme roadmap, prioritisation and delivery plans align to strategic objectives, with clear benefits tracking and value realisation across the portfolio.
  • Risk, Dependency and Delivery Management: Proactively manage delivery risks, interdependencies and resource constraints; implement mitigation plans to maintain pace, quality and control across multiple concurrent initiatives.

To be successful you will need:

  • Programme and Portfolio Management Expertise: Proven ability to lead multi-workstream technology programmes and manage portfolios end-to-end; relevant accreditation preferred (e.g., Agile, Scrum, PMP, MSP).
  • Strategic and Commercial Awareness: Demonstrated ability to connect technology initiatives to business outcomes, with strong judgement around prioritisation, trade-offs and benefits realisation.
  • Influential Communication and Relationship Building: Excellent communication skills with the ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and external partners.
  • Governance and Executive Management: Strong experience establishing programme governance, running Steering Committees, and producing clear management reporting for senior audiences.
  • Adaptability and Resilience: Ability to operate effectively in a rapidly evolving technology landscape, managing ambiguity and shifting priorities while maintaining delivery discipline.
  • Technical Curiosity: Familiarity with emerging technologies (quantum computing, advanced analytics, AI, modern platforms) is beneficial, alongside an ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
