We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Head of Portfolio Optimisation. 

 

The Head of Portfolio Optimization will lead the strategic management and optimization of HSBC Life Singapore’s insurance portfolio, with a focus on reinsurance, capital improvement, and sustainable growth. This role is pivotal in driving capital efficiency, enhancing risk-adjusted profitability, and ensuring robust long-term sustainable growth across all product lines. The successful candidate will collaborate cross-functionally to deliver actionable insights, implement targeted interventions, and support new business growth through prudent portfolio and reinsurance strategies.

 

In this role you will:

  • Develop and execute strategies to optimize return on capital, balancing capital consumption, liquidity, and sustainable growth for both inforce and new business
  • Collaborate with pricing, inforce management, and finance to identify and implement capital improvement opportunities, including risk transfer and financing solutions
  • Steer new business towards more efficient capital profiles by actively managing the mix of single and regular premium business
  • Lead targeted campaigns to enhance product competitiveness, drive profitable growth, and reduce reliance on direct price matching
  • Oversee the design, negotiation, and implementation of reinsurance treaties, ensuring alignment with risk tolerance and capital optimization
  • Evaluate and execute reinsurance solutions for IUL and ILP products to improve capital efficiency and liquidity
  • Manage relationships with a diverse panel of reinsurers and brokers, ensuring effective settlement processes and risk management
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration, drive operational improvements, ensure regulatory compliance, and support automation and workforce alignment with company objectives

To be successful you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Actuarial Science, Risk Management, or related field.  Actuarial Fellowship is required (FSA, FSAS, etc.)
  • Extensive experience in life insurance with a focus on pricing, capital management, and reinsurance
  • Proven track record in designing and implementing reinsurance solutions and capital improvement strategies
  • Strong understanding of SG RBC2 capital framework
  • Expertise in financial reporting under both IFRS 17 and SG statuary and operational controls is required
  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and leadership skills. Experience in cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management
