HSBC Corporate and Institutional Banking is a markets-led, financing-focused business that provides investment and financial solutions. Our sector-focused Banking relationship managers provide a single coverage point for multi-national clients. With our global capabilities and footprint, vast expertise, and local knowledge, our Global Network Banking teams connect clients to the products and services that meet their international financial needs.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a First Line Risk Management (GTS – South East Asia)

A key first line risk role within GTS South East Asia (Singapore, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam), operating in a regulated and evolving environment. The role acts as the primary point of contact for first line risk matters across financial and non-financial risks, supports implementation of Global FIM/GOPs and regional guidance, and helps embed a strong risk-aware culture across markets.

In this role you will:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for all first line risk management matters for GTS South East Asia, covering financial and non-financial risks.
  • Manage and oversee business-operated controls that mitigate credit risk and key non-financial risks (including financial crime, regulatory, legal, resilience, people, model, accounting & tax risks).
  • Identify, manage, and escalate material risk issues and control gaps; drive timely remediation plans with accountable owners.
  • Embed and strengthen a risk-aware culture across the four markets, providing practical guidance to in-country teams on policy, control points, and escalation expectations.
  • Oversee GTS Product Risk activities across GTS Non-Financial Risk, Transaction Risk Management (TRM), and Quality Assurance.
  • Provide oversight of GTS facilities and lead both TRM and the Controls Office, coordinating effective governance and reporting.
  • Monitor portfolio risk appetite alignment and deliver periodic reporting of key portfolio risk metrics to regional Product Risk and relevant risk stewards, highlighting key and emerging risks.
  • Contribute to new initiatives, propositions, and in-country business plans in partnership with regional and wider CIB stakeholders to optimise risk/return outcomes.

To be successful you will need:

  • Strong trade background preferred, with broader trade experience and knowledge; strong Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) knowledge.
  • Proven risk management track record, specialising in at least one of operational risk management or credit risk (structured products experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience building a strong risk culture and leading risk specialists to implement global policy and controls.
  • Strong stakeholder management capability across multiple departments and senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) with the ability to influence and challenge appropriately.
  • Strong analytical capability—comfortable working with large data sets and summarising insights clearly for Executive Management; able to perform under pressure and tight deadlines.

The chosen candidate for this role will be required to undergo enhanced vetting. Subject to local laws, this will require the individual to satisfactorily pass a series of additional checks as part of the recruitment process and on an ongoing basis, if appointed to the role. HSBC Group reserves its position with regard to any steps which it may take in relation to any material adverse findings which arise either when the checks are originally completed, and/or if relevant, on an ongoing basis. For more information about the enhanced vetting for this role please contact the recruiter for this role.

You’ll achieve more when you join HSBC.
