We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Equity Advisor.

 

In this role you will: 

  • The role is for a Direct Access Equity Advisor and part of the Equities Desk which covers Private Bank and Retail Wealth equities, reporting to the Head of Equities.
  • Work closely with equity colleagues while collaborating with other capital markets desks, RMs, and ICs to grow the EQ desk’s Dedicated Advisory & Dealing proposition that spans both Equities as well as Equity-linked structured products.
  • Manage a book of clients with annual sales targets while adhering to all risk metrics. The person needs to be familiar with both advisory and execution of trades.
  • Help maintain the advisory infrastructure: stock coverage list, investment rationale for stocks, sector sheets, client-friendly presentation decks, etc.
  • Publish thematic ideas with stock picks over email internally and communicate sector views and stock ideas with internal stakeholders. Present these ideas in morning meetings on a regular basis, participate in RM/IC huddles to discuss equity ideas and develop traction with such teams
  • Participate in external client meetings, undertake client portfolio reviews from an equity perspective and participate in client events such as Webinars, Podcasts, Product Day events, etc., as needed. May occasionally need to present at the Retail Wealth morning meetings to help drive platform engagement.
  • Help with processes relevant to the Equity desk - Product due diligence, Product risk rating, IPOs and private placements and keep track of daily, weekly and monthly flows - Notional traded by volume and value with split across markets
  • Ensure HSBC internal controls and standards are maintained, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators. Understand, follow and demonstrate compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.

 

To be successful you will need:

  • Candidate must have a sound understanding of Equities, Equity-linked structured products and trade execution. Prior experience in Private Banks as a sales-oriented Equity/SP Product Specialist or Investment Counsellor focused on Equities and Structured Products is well suited for this role. Candidates with sales experience in global markets or research with a fundamental understanding of equities may also be considered.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the key equity markets, especially US, HK, China, Singapore and Europe and good broad-based understanding of key equity sectors is essential.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to present in an articulate manner in large group, small group and 1x1 settings.
  • Educational qualifications: University Graduate or other relevant professional qualifications.
  • Client Advisor Competency Standards, FMRP certifications needed unless deemed to be exempted by compliance.
  • Proficient in Mandarin as the candidate may also need to cover some mainland Chinese clients.

 

The chosen candidate for this role will be required to undergo enhanced vetting. Subject to local laws, this will require the individual to satisfactorily pass a series of additional checks as part of the recruitment process and on an ongoing basis, if appointed to the role.
