We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an Assistant Vice President, Retail Underwriting.

In this role you will:

  • Conduct medical, financial and compliance assessment in accordance with the company’s underwriting guidelines and risk framework, adhering to delegated authority limits and service level agreements
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with partners to collaboratively resolve underwriting queries related to risk selection
  • Support the training and development of junior underwriters, including contributing to internal quality assurance audits to maintain consistent underwriting standards  
  • Review and refine medical, financial and residency guidelines to ensure continued market competitiveness
  • Provides underwriting expertise and insights for broader company initiatives
  • Identify and implement process improvement to streamline internal workflow and enhance operational efficiency 

To be successful you will need: 

  • Extensive underwriting experience in life, disability, critical illness, accident & health insurance
  • University Degree or equivalent professional insurance designation preferred (e.g. ALU)
  • Strong understanding of medical, non-medical and financial principles and practices
  • Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience on automated underwriting systems or rules engine
